In the City of Thunder Bay, you must license your dogs and cats within 14 days of ownership. You need to keep the licence on your pet at all times. This helps us find lost pets. We'll even give your dog a free ride home the first time they are found.
Licensing fees
- $61.00 for an unaltered dog or cat
- $45.50 for an unaltered dog or cat with a microchip implant
- $30.50 for an altered dog or cat
- $25.50 for a lifetime licence for an altered dog or cat with a microchip implant
If we deliver your animal home, and you're not there, we'll leave a note and bring your pet to the Municipal Enforcement Services Animal Shelter. The facility is at 882 Alloy Drive. If an animal is impounded, pound fees will apply.
Paying by telephone
Please call us at 807-684-2156 to pay by telephone. Office phone lines are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. We accept VISA or MasterCard over the phone.
