Project Title:  Computer vision-based condition assessment of Thunder Bay Transit’s public infrastructure assets

 

Project Description: The City of Thunder Bay (Thunder Bay Transit), Lakehead University and Consat Canada are engaged in a research project to develop an innovative computer vision-based system to improve data collection and condition assessment processes for public transit infrastructure asset management. The proposed system will use the regular operation of the transit buses for data collection and then utilize deep learning methods to detect public transit infrastructure assets, assess their condition, and update asset management inventories. All images collected through the computer vision-based system that will be used for this Project will be anonymized such that there shall be no identifiable information about any person captured on any such image.

Privacy Legislation: Personal Information is collected by Lakehead University under the authority of the Lakehead University Act SO 1965, c 54 and will be used solely to carry out the project.
