PRO Kids is launching its fifth Annual Power to Play campaign on Friday, May 1, 2026, with a goal of reaching $25,000 in just two weeks. Funds from the campaign support children, youth and their families by reducing financial barriers to sports, recreation, arts and cultural activities.

This year’s campaign is off to a powerful start thanks to a generous donation of $5,000 from Bain Smith Consulting. “Supporting PRO Kids and the Power to Play campaign is about giving every child the chance to have fun and participate in something they love,” says Donna Smith of Bain Smith Consulting. “Sport builds confidence and friendships, supports mental wellness and creates lifelong memories - every child deserves that opportunity.”

Since its inception in 1998, PRO Kids has partnered with hundreds of activity providers to facilitate more than 30,000 placements of children and youth in recreation programs across Thunder Bay. These activities help build confidence, encourage healthy growth and support personal development. The Power to Play campaign is one of the organization’s core fundraising activities that helps ensure continued support for families.

“Every child deserves the chance to be included in recreational activities, but for many families, cost can be a real barrier,” says Grace Power, PRO Kids Coordinator. “That’s where the generousity of our local businesses and community members makes an incredible difference.”

The Power to Play campaign runs from May 1-16. Donations can be made to PRO Kids at www.prokidsthunderbay.ca or by calling (807) 625-3836.
