The Public is invited to participate in a Public Meeting, which City Council will be holding on: Monday, August 22nd, 2022, 6:30 p.m.
to consider a proposed zoning by-law amendment (file no. Z-08-2022) at 1151 Alpine Place.

  • For the applicant to present the proposal
  • For interested parties to express their opinion about the proposal
  • For community input to be used to evaluate the proposal

Purpose an effect of proposal

The purpose of the proposed amendment is to amend Zoning-Bylaw 100-2010 as it relates to 1151 Alpine Place. The proposed amendment would:

  • Define and add “Backyard Home” as a permitted use on the property.
  • Establish the development related proposals.

The effect of this amendment would be to allow the construction of a new garage with a “Backyard Home” on the subject property. The proposed building would be located in the rear yard. The recently approved Zoning By-law 1/2022 (currently under appeal) permits the use on the lands; however as there is no timeline for that Zoning By-law to come into effect, the Applicant has chosen to proceed with amending the current Zoning by-law.


How to Participate

Submit written comments: Interested parties are encouraged to submit written correspondence and questions prior to the meeting by emailing by 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17th, 2022. Please quote the file number, Z-08-2022, in your submission. All correspondence will be provided to City Council and to the applicant. The collection of personal information including names and contact information provided in written submissions is made under the authority of the Planning Act for the purpose of creating a Public Record. Personal information is collected in compliance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

  • Attend in person to present comments at the Council meeting, advanced registration is not required.
  • Attend Electronically using Microsoft Teams video communication software or a teleconference phone line. The Clerk will make this option available to participants who have registered by the deadline noted above. Registered participants will be encouraged to participate from home. However, a public computer kiosk with the required software will be made available in the Lobby of City Hall for those who are unable to participate from home. All use of this computer kiosk will be by appointment only. Participants shall have a maximum of 10 minutes each to speak.
  • Watch online: Members of the public are invited to view the Public Meeting via live streaming by visiting or via the live broadcast on Shaw Spotlight Ch10, BlueCurve Ch105 or TBayTel TV Channel 110. Video of meetings will also be available for viewing following the meeting online at
