Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm

Location: Chippewa Park

Thunder Bay's Kite Festival has been held annually since 1981. Along with kite workshops, demonstrations and activities, you will experience the flying skills of kite experts from renowned Kite Clubs. People of all ages will be impressed and inspired by their spectacular demonstrations of colourful high-flying kites.

Families are invited to fly their own kites, watch the Pro Fliers take over the sky with Giant Kites, and learn about different forms of flight.

Performance and Activity

John Collins – The Paper Airplane Guy, will be on-site to teach children how to fold and fly paper airplanes at a Guinness World Record distance.

John holds the current Guinness World Record for paper airplane distance. After studying origami and aerodynamics, he broke the world record for distance flown by a paper airplane in 2012. He shares his passion for planes through STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs across the country, making both public and private appearances at schools, science museums and public libraries. John is the author of three books of original paper airplane designs and has presented at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Carnegie Mellon, and Stanford University.
