Thunder Bay's First Annual Tech & Gaming Event offers eSports tournaments, tech and gaming activities, entertainment, concessions and fun for the whole family!

* Free admission to event. (Fees applicable for tournaments, selected activities and concessions).

Tech & Gaming Activities

Interactive activities provided by:

  • X Events – Super Karts: transform your love of Mario Kart into a life size, interactive experience that’s super competitive and fun(participants pay $4.00 for activity)
  • Qwantech – Coding and Virtual Reality: showcasing virtual reality demonstrations, app developers showing their creations, coding demonstrations and lessons
  • Science North – Robotics Programming: a variety of robotics and tech for visitors to interact with; hands on robots that visitors can code: Sphero, mbot, Lego WeDo, mBot; and their classroom virtual reality set ready for viewing to show how it can be used with large groups (happening only on Saturday from 10am - 5pm)
  • Innovation Centre's Tech Kids – Tinker Cad with 3D printing, laptops with SCRATCH on them for kids to make mobile games, and TinkerBot (little robots they can program)
  • Youth Fusion – Video Game Development: showcasing video games they developed and attendees will have the opportunity to play them
  • Our Kids Count – Face Painting (happening only on Saturday from 10am - 7pm)
  • Free Play Gaming – available between tournaments
  • Maverick Entertainment Group – Music provided by a DJ

Fortnite Drop In's

You MUST sign up onsite at the event! Only 6 spots available for each drop in, the cost to play is $5.00 per player (cash only).

Drop In Times:

  • Friday, May 31 - 7pm, 7:30pm & 8pm
  • Saturday, June 1 - 10:30am, 11am, 11:30am, 3pm, 3:30pm, 4pm & 4:30pm

PLEASE NOTE: You must bring your own controller (XBOX or PS4 Controllers)!

Fortnite Friday

TWO separate tournaments SOLO & DUO
Total # of participants: Duo's (25 Teams) & Solo’s (25 players) 
Platform: PC’s with XBOX & PS4 Controller capabilities
Time: 6:30pm – 9:30pm

Competition:

  • Teams/players will queue separately online
  • All teams/players play 5 rounds consecutively
  • Teams will attempt to earn as many points as possible within those rounds, and report scores after each round.

Point Breakdown:

  • 1 Elimination = 1 Point
  • Victory Royale = 5 Points
  • 8+ Elimination Game = 5 Points 

Prizing:

  • 1st – $400 value (Duo) & $200 value (Solo)
  • 2nd – $80 value (Duo) & $40 value (Solo)
  • 3rd – $40 value (Duo) & $20 value (Solo)
  • Special – Most kills in a round, most VR’s, least total kills

FIFA Friday

Total # of participants: 16

Competition: Double Elimination
Time: 6:00pm – 9:00pm
