Returning Officer Krista Power has officially certified the candidates for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election. The French School Board saw most candidates receiving acclamation to office, and the French Separate School Board had an extension of the nomination deadline.

As declared by John Hannam, City Clerk, under the Municipal Elections Act 1996, the Official Results of the 2018 Municipal Election and District School Board Elections have been released.

Voters selected representatives to Thunder Bay City Council and the School Board that they support.

September 26, 2018 – Voter Instruction Letters (VILs) have begun arriving by mail to eligible Thunder Bay electors currently on the voters’ list for the upcoming 2018 Municipal & School Board Election. 

VILs contain important information on how, when and where to vote, and will be required along with identification to cast a ballot online, by telephone and at the polling station.

Televised broadcasts of weekly Committee of the Whole (COW) and City Council meetings will be temporarily suspended starting one month before the October 22 municipal election to permit a more level playing field for all candidates.

City of Thunder Bay staff recently made the decision following consultation with its TV broadcast providers.
