WHEREAS, Operation Smile Canada is a global medical charity providing free, life-changing surgeries and medical care to children born with cleft conditions around the world; and
WHEREAS, Every 3 minutes, a child is born with a cleft condition, and lack of access to safe, effective surgery means that easily treatable conditions like cleft lip and cleft palate can become fatal; and

City Offering Free Compost to ResidentsCompost is now available to all residents at no charge at the Solid Waste and Recycling Facility while quantities last, weather permitting.
Access to the compost pick-up area is on John Street Road, between Mapleward Road and Gratton Road.
Reconstruction of Balmoral Street Continues Starting TomorrowCelebrate Crossing Guard Appreciation Day 2022The City of Thunder Bay is once again celebrating the individuals that continue to make its School Crossing Guard program a success with the 17th annual Crossing Guard Appreciation Day today.
The School Crossing Guard program has been in place since 1947; currently 55 School Crossing Guards are employed at the City of Thunder Bay.

National Deafblind Awareness MonthJUNE 2022
WHEREAS, deafblindness is a unique disability that incorporates the loss of both sight and hearing. Individuals who are deafblind can live full, meaningful lives as independently as possible with the right supports in place, such as intervener services; and
WHEREAS, National Deafblind Awareness Committee support community partners and individuals who are deafblind to increase their independence and improve their quality of life through specialized services; and
WHEREAS, everyone is encouraged.
Edward Street Closure at James and William Street IntersectionEdward Street North, at the James Street and William Street intersection, will be closed to through traffic starting on Wednesday, June 1, for watermain repair work.
Crews expect the work to be completed by the end of the day Thursday, but weather conditions and other factors may impact project timelines.
Accessibility Advisory Committee to Host Public Open House on June 1As part of the celebration of National AccessAbility Week, the City of Thunder Bay’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) will host its annual open house from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in McGillivray Square, City Hall. A Flag Raising ceremony will kick off the event.
