Reimagine Victoriaville: A Vision for Growth and Vibrancy in Downtown Fort WilliamThe City of Thunder Bay is thrilled to announce the launch of Phase 2 of the Reimagine Victoriaville project, a transformative initiative to foster growth, enhance community spaces, and revitalize downtown Fort William.
The ambitious project includes the removal of Victoriaville Mall and renovations to the Victoriaville Civic Centre, Court Services, and private buildings within the mall, as well as the reopening of Victoria Avenue to vehicular traffic from Archibald Street to Brodie Street.
Thunder Bay Delegation Brings Priorities to Provincial Level 2025A delegation including Mayor Ken Boshcoff, Councillor Kristen Oliver, Chair – Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, Councillor Kasey Etreni, Member – Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, Dominic Pasqualino, Member – Intergovernmental Affairs Committee and City Manager John Collin attended the 2025 Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference in Toronto from January 19 to 21.

Grants now available through Housing Accelerator FundThe City of Thunder Bay was approved for up to $20.7 million dollars in federal funding from the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) in February 2024 to support development of over 600 new housing units over the next three years, to reach a total of 1,691 new permitted homes by February 2027.

City beats housing target, applies for $46 million in federal fundsThe City of Thunder Bay has surpassed its provincially assigned housing target for 2023. One of only nine Ontario municipalities to achieve this goal, the City expects to receive funding from the provincial Building Faster fund.
Thunder Bay CEDC Launches New Economic Development ToolToday, Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) launched a new website and a promotional video for Thunder Bay. Both will be used as an economic development tool for the City and have come at a time when economic development is needed most.
Congratulations to the successful 2020 Summer Company StudentsThe Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) would like to congratulate the successful Summer Company students who started and managed their own small business this past summer. The Summer Company program is administered by the Thunder Bay and District Entrepreneur Centre and has seen eighty students go through the program since 2014.
