October 14, 2016 - BDC Small Business Week will be October 16 through 22, as declared by Mayor Hobbs.
BDC Small Business Week has been celebrating entrepreneurship since 1979.

New Resource for Local Start-Up Companies and InnovatorsJune 16, 2016 - Thunder Bay's new small business incubation zone was unveiled today at the Waverley location of the Thunder Bay Public Library. Aptly named hub:north, it is a low-cost to free resources for local entrepreneurs, innovators and start-up companies.
Mayor Hobbs Declares June 4 Mining DayJune 2, 2016 - Thunder Bay will celebrate its rich mining heritage on June 4, which has been declared Mining Day by Acting Mayor Joe Virdiramo.
Councilor Virdiramo made the declaration at a ceremony today at Mariner's Hall at Prince Arthur's Landing.
Celebrating 25 Grants Distributed to New BusinessesMay 6, 2016 - The Thunder Bay and District Entrepreneur Centre marks the two-year anniversary of the official launch of the Ontario government's Starter Company program, which provides training, mentoring, and a potential grant of up to $5,000 for those with a winning business plan. 25 grants have been awarded to young entrepreneurs, who have used the money to purchase inventory, secure a store space, advertise, and help with other start-up costs.
