    Crime Prevention Thunder Bay invites everyone to get involved and have their say during the Phase 2 Community Engagement process for Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Planning. A series of virtual public forums are scheduled from March 2-18.

  • MECG Repeats Call for Assistance Now

    The City’s Municipal Emergency Control Group met today with community partners as part of its ongoing management of the COVID-19 situation to receive an update on emergency response, pressures on the isolation shelter and an update on the request for assistance from the provincial and federal governments.

    “We need support now to shore up the health human resources at our isolation shelter,” said Mayor Mauro.

    PRO Kids Encourages Families to Skate in Support of Local Children & Youth

    The community is invited to grab their skates and get active outside as part of the PRO Kids’ Skate-2-Win Campaign which runs until March 14. Families are encouraged to go skating at their favourite outdoor spot for some quality time together while enjoying healthy activity in support of PRO Kids.

    Today is Human Trafficking Awareness Day in Ontario and as such, the Thunder Bay Coalition to End Human Trafficking launched a new website to help educate people about human trafficking and to provide community supports and services for survivors/victims.

    WHEREAS, Scouts Canada is a Canadian Scouting association providing programs for young people, aged 5-26, within the stated aim “to help develop well rounded youth, better prepared for success in the world.” Scouting is a co-ed program; and

    WHEREAS, The City of Thunder Bay citizens support our groups in the various fundraising providing the necessary funds to run the programs.

    FEBRUARY 22, 2021

    WHEREAS, World Thinking Day has united Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world for a say of international friendship over the past 90 years; and

    WHEREAS, Girl members in the City of Thunder Bay and beyond benefit from the opportunity to speak out on issues that affect girls and young women, celebrate the founding of Girl Guides and be connected to the 10 Million members on 50 countries who are part of the Guiding movement; and

    As a result of a water main break, a temporary road closure will take place from approximately 4:00 am to 4:30 pm, Friday, Feb. 19, on Hewitson Street between Carrick Street and Russell Street.
