City Announces National Youth Week and Youth Arts Week Virtual ProgrammingThe City of Thunder Bay is excited to host virtual programming this year in celebration of National Youth Week and Youth Arts Week from May 1 to May 7. The Recreation and Culture Division, along with other community partners, has arranged different activities for youth ages 12–24 to participate virtually throughout the week with a focus on well-being.
Road Construction to Close Section of James Street SouthCOVID-19: Emergency funding approved for non-profit groupsCity Council voted unanimously to provide COVID-19 Pandemic emergency relief funding to four organizations currently funded through the Community, Youth & Cultural Funding Program.
A total of $168,300 was approved in Phase I of the Community, Youth & Cultural Funding Program Emergency Fund, which prioritized critical and essential services related to food and shelter.
Food Allergy Awareness Month (2)MAY, 2020
WHEREAS, Food Allergy Awareness Month was established as a national month of encouraging food allergy awareness and supporting those who are impacted by food allergy and anaphylaxis; and

WHEREAS, a food allergy is an immune system response to a food the body mistakenly believes is harmful. When a person with food allergy eats the food, his or her immune system releases massive amounts of chemicals,.
Section of River Street to Close for Sewer and Water WorkA section of River Street, between Balsam Street and Elm Street, will be closed starting on Wednesday, April 29, to allow for new essential sewer and water infrastructure to be installed. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, May 1, at 8 pm.
New Plaque Installed to Commemorate National Day of MourningOn the eve of the National Day of Mourning, Mayor Mauro tonight introduced a bronze memorial plaque installed to recognize employees who suffered loss of life, serious injury and illness arising from their duties.
The plaque is in front of City Hall opposite the flags that are lowered on the annual Day of Mourning.

COVID-19: Mayor Mauro Declares EmergencyMayor Bill Mauro has declared a state of emergency for the City of Thunder Bay, effective today at 2 pm and until further notice, in response to the threat of COVID-19.
This aligns with Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s Declaration of Emergency under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and the evolving environment in which the municipality is delivering critical and essential services.
