Cannabis Retail Store: Public Notice Period Until April 15, 2020, for 1500 James Street South, Suite 3
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has opened a 15-day Public Notice Period for a cannabis store to be located at 1500 JAMES ST. S.
COVID-19: Only Critical Construction Projects to ContinueFollowing the announcement from the Ontario government that the list of businesses classified as essential will be reduced further, the City’s Development & Emergency Services Department will only be performing inspections on essential construction projects listed in the Emergency Order below.
For now, permit applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed so the City is able to facilitate construction once the orders are lifted.
Ontario Government Program Continues to Move Forward, 15 Grants for Local EntrepreneursThe Thunder Bay & District Entrepreneur Centre (EC) is pleased to announce the successful entrepreneurs who will receive a $5,000 grant through the 2020 Starter Company Plus program. The 2020 Starter Company Plus program, originally known as the Starter Company, is in its 6th year of operation and has been helping local entrepreneurs start up, expand, or buy their business.
City Council Will Not Meet April 6Meetings that were scheduled for Monday, April 6 for Committee of the Whole and City Council are cancelled. There are no decisions requiring immediate approval from Council at this time.
Waste Collection Changes for EasterCurbside waste collection dates, city wide, will change next week due to Good Friday.
Garbage and recycling collection will move one day earlier next week, starting on April 6, for all residents.
COVID-19: City Confirms Temporary Reduction of WorkforceFacility closures and program suspensions have resulted in a temporary reduction in the City of Thunder Bay’s workforce by about one-third.
This includes temporary layoffs of up to 170 employees whose work does not allow them to work from home and a temporary shortage of work for about 620 part-time, casual and temporary employees who have not had work to do since facilities were closed and programs suspended.Transit to Operate on Enhanced Sunday Service Starting April 6Beginning Monday, April 6, Thunder Bay Transit will operate on an enhanced Sunday service schedule that will maintain early morning start times on all routes six days per week, Monday – Saturday. LIFT+ specialized service is not affected by these changes.
COVID-19: Spring Recreational Programs CancelledThe Recreation & Culture’s spring program sessions scheduled to start March 30 - April 30 are cancelled, and credits are being applied to all program registrants.
Staff will be available by phone on Wednesday, April 8 to process credit card refunds if preferred instead of a credit.
