  • COVID-19: Council Meets Tonight by Teleconference

    In response to the Provincial Order prohibiting organized gatherings of more than five people, tonight’s Open Session of Committee of the Whole will be conducted largely by electronic participation.

    Only the Chairs of Committee of the Whole and Council (Councillor Mark Bentz and Mayor Bill Mauro) will attend in person together with City Clerk Krista Power and City Manager Norm Gale and one other person for technical support.

    WHEREAS, World Autism Awareness Day will be recognized on April 2nd  2020, in Canada thanks to Liberal Senator Jim Munson’s Bill S-206, An Act Respecting World Autism Awareness Day; and

    WHEREAS, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects more than 100,000 Ontarians. Autism Spectrum Disorder is now recognized as the most common neurological disorder affecting 1 in every 66 children, as well as their friends, family and community; and

    APRIL 2020

    WHEREAS, Dig Safe Month serves as a reminder to homeowners and contractors to “Call Before You Dig” and coincides with the unofficial start of the spring digging season; and

    WHEREAS, Ensuring the safety of those who work or live in the vicinity of underground facilities and protecting vital services is everyone’s responsibility. Call Centres such as Ontario One Call provide the “Call Before You Dig” service free of charge, 24 hours a day.

    COVID-19: Transit May See Interruptions, Playgrounds Closed

    As the City continues to respond to COVID-19, it is becoming increasingly difficult to provide some public facing services such as Transit.

    Thunder Bay Transit is seeking approval from Council’s Committee of the Whole on Monday, to begin operating on a reduced Sunday/Holiday service schedule seven days a week beginning on April 1.

    COVID-19: Non-Essential Services Cease
