The City of Thunder Bay will open its splash pads in three phases over the coming days, offering free family fun and relief from summer temperatures in neighbourhoods across the city.

Due to construction on the Current River Bridge, multi-use trails at Centennial Park will be closed to the public in the area of Highway 11/17 beginning on June 17.

Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation will be conducting rehabilitation on the Current River Bridge over the summer.

Following a rigorous and competitive selection process that drew interest from many highly qualified candidates across the country, the City is pleased to announce the appointment of David Paxton as the new Chief of Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, effective immediately.

Chief Paxton has been a dedicated member of Fire Rescue since 1998, starting his career as a 1st Class Professional Firefighter and ascending to the role of Deputy Fire Chief in 2012.

At approximately 6am today an incident occurred at the City Hall bus terminal that involved a physical altercation between a City Transit Operator and a member of the public.

The incident was reported to Thunder Bay Police Service.
