The City of Thunder Bay is in the process of investigating a security staff interaction with patrons at the City Hall transit terminal and the conduct of everyone involved.

Additional security was recently added by Thunder Bay Transit for the City Hall terminal after increased incidents of aggressive behaviour was being reported by transit drivers.

People interested in camping at Trowbridge Falls and Chippewa Park this summer will need to act quickly as reservations for both campgrounds are on the rise. Compared with numbers from 2019, campsite reservations at Chippewa Park nearly doubled, and at Trowbridge Falls, they quadrupled.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is reminding residents of the potential risks of fractal wood burning after they responded to a medical call on the weekend for an electrocution death caused by the process.

Fractal wood burning, also called Lichtenberg, is an artistic process that burns lightning or tree-like figures into wood using high-electricity voltage generators or similar components.

Following the Government of Ontario’s announcement on Friday of an extension to the Stay-at-home order and further province-wide restrictions, some city services will be affected including marinas and some outdoor recreational amenities.

The declaration of emergency and the Stay-at-home order are orders under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, and have been extended to May 5 at this time.

The Government of Ontario has extended the Stay-at-Home Order and the State of the Emergency to May 5, and announced further province-wide restrictions effective 12:01 am today, Saturday, April 17. The order under the Reopening Ontario Act, which would include the rules for shutdown zones, has been extended to May 20.

As a result of a scheduled hydrant repair, Water Street North between Bay Street and Cumberland Street will be reduced from four lanes to two lanes (one northbound and one southbound), beginning on Thursday, April 15, at 8 am. Slower traffic can be expected during the repair.
