  • Residents Reminded to Stay Safe and Follow Rules at Outdoor Amenities

    The city is reminding residents that the Provincial Order issued on Dec. 21, 2020 states, in part, that permitted outdoor recreational amenities may only open if people can maintain a physical distance of two metres from one another, and sports, or other sports or games where people may come within two metres of each other, are not practiced or played within the amenity.

    Community Reminded of Cold Weather Response Plan

    The City of Thunder Bay and community partners remind all citizens to take extra caution when spending time outdoors, especially during extreme cold events. The Cold Weather Response Plan will be active for the duration of the COVID-19 municipal state of emergency.

  • 50th Anniversary Commemorative Art Bus in Service Today

    The 50th Anniversary installation of the latest City art bus is now complete, and it will be in service with Thunder Bay Transit starting today.

    “The new art bus is a great tool for civic engagement, and another wonderful way to celebrate our 50th Anniversary year that just passed,” said Councillor Shelby Ch’ng, Chair – 50th Anniversary Committee.

  • City Requests Expressions of Interest for Prince Arthur’s Landing Opportunities

    The City of Thunder Bay has released a Request for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for opportunities related to Prince Arthur’s Landing.

    The objective of this Expression of Interest is to seek submissions from proponents that may be interested in potential opportunities to provide products, services and or amenities at Prince Arthur’s Landing, Marina Park.

  • New Rules in Effect for Skating at Outdoor City Rinks and Ponds

    In cooperation with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, the City is releasing new rules and restrictions for outdoor skating at City rinks and ponds that go into effect today.

    The additional rules include:

    • No nets allowed (nets will be removed from all rinks).

    Notice is hereby given that the Council of The Corporation of the City of Thunder Bay, at its meeting held on Monday, January 11, 2021, declared the following land and easement interests surplus to the City's requirements:

    • (C218) The City’s interest in the vacant property municipally known as 714 Brodie Street North, containing a site area of 187.8 m² (2,021.
  • COVID:19 Warming Centre Opening as Part of Cold Weather Plan

    Under the Thunder Bay Municipal Emergency Response to COVID-19, a new Cold Weather Response Plan puts a particular focus on preventing direct impacts of cold exposure on people experiencing homelessness.

    An agreement has recently been finalized with People Advocating for Change Through Empowerment (PACE) located at 510-512 Victoria Ave E.

  • COVID-19: Update on City Services Under Stay at Home Order

    The Province of Ontario is now in a second provincial emergency and a stay-at-home order is in effect until at least Thursday, Feb. 11.

  • Public Reminded to Stay Off Ice at Boulevard Lake

    The public is reminded to stay off all natural ice surfaces as they may be unsafe, including the ice at Boulevard Lake.

    “Members of the public may be curious about the dam construction at Boulevard Lake,” said Mike Vogrig, City of Thunder Bay Project Engineer.
