Victoria Avenue Between Edward and Lillie Streets to be ResurfacedRoad Work Season Continues in Thunder BayThe City of Thunder Bay is investing $30 million in 2019 on road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sanitary and storm sewers, watermain repair/replacement, bridge and culvert work, and streetlight renewal.
Road work can result in road closures, detours and delays for drivers, but the inconvenience ultimately results in improved infrastructure.
Monitoring Wells Installed at Boulevard Lake ParkDST Consulting Engineers will be installing monitoring wells and sampling soil and groundwater on the festival field at Boulevard Lake Park. DST will be installing fencing to keep the public and trail users safe and separated from the drill rig.
Residents Reminded to Follow the Fireworks By-law and Stay SafeResidents are reminded that fireworks within the city can only be discharged during specified holidays and the three days leading up to them. Holidays which permit fireworks include: New Year’s Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, New Year’s Eve, and the Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year).
Local Coalition to End Human Trafficking Hosts Information EventTo mark the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the Thunder Bay Coalition to End Human Trafficking hosted an information fair and BBQ this afternoon at Minnesota Park to raise awareness about human trafficking and what community resources are available to those affected by it.
“Unfortunately, human trafficking is a growing issue in our community, just as it is around the world,” said Kristal Carlson, Co-Chair – Thunder Bay Coalition to End Human Trafficking.

My Son the Hurricane Brings High Energy to Live on the WaterfrontThe City of Thunder Bay is pleased to host My Son the Hurricane at Live on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation, on July 24, 2019.
My Son the Hurricane will be hitting the stage at 8 pm with their unique style called brasshop, a combination of multi-horns, multi-vocal and multi-drums.
