Thunder Bay Fire Rescue kicked-off Fire Prevention Week at Nor’wester View Elementary School today. Students from the grade 4/5 class educated a gymnasium full of classmates, teachers and Thunder Bay Fire Rescue personnel on general home fire safety and the importance of working smoke alarms.

The construction at the Marina Park Boater’s launch and parking lot has been delayed, and it is tentatively scheduled to re-open middle of next week.

During the closure, residents can use the Neste Boat Launch on Mountdale Avenue on the Kaministiquia River, or the Current River Boat Launch (Fisherman's Wharf) on Cumberland Street North.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue will host its formal graduation ceremony tomorrow morning, Saturday, Oct. 6, to welcome seven recruits, as well as to pay tribute to those honoured with Long-Term Service Awards.

The City of Thunder Bay joined other former Canada Games hosts across the nation in raising the Canada Games Flag at City Hall today. The simultaneous flag-raising also coincided with the lighting of the first ever Canada Games Torch at Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

Employees of the City of Thunder Bay, Superior North EMS (SNEMS) and the Thunder Bay Public Library (TBPL) proudly kicked off their 2018 United Way Employee Campaign today at a luncheon, at the West Arthur Community Centre.

WHEREAS, the month raises awareness of child abuse prevention issues by making people more aware of the signs of child abuse, encouraging more people to report child abuse and celebrating the achievements of local children who are contributing to the community.

Superior North EMS is very pleased to announce that Superintendent David Bott (District), Advanced Care Paramedic Don Lemieux (City) and Primary Care Paramedic Brian White (District) of the Superior North EMS have been awarded the Governor General’s EMS Exemplary Service Medal in recognition of career accomplishments. 

The Governor General of Canada has approved David, Don and Brian in recognition of their outstanding contribution to Paramedicine and their Communities.
