The City of Thunder Bay’s draft Growth Community Improvement Plan has been released for review, with comments being accepted until June 11.

The Growth CIP is a bold new strategy designed to position Thunder Bay as a competitive, investment-ready city by encouraging industrial and commercial development across the community.

The second and final Spring Leaf & Yard waste curbside collection will take place between June 10 and June 20, on residents’ regular recycling day.

“Having two collections in the spring and two again in the fall allows the City to increase the amount of leaf and yard waste collected and diverted from the landfill,” said Jason Sherband, Manager of Solid Waste & Recycling Services.

WHEREAS, 1 in 4 Canadian menstruators (25%) have been forced to make the decision between purchasing menstrual products and purchasing other essentials such as food or rent within the last year. Today we recognize that is in an issue that exists in our community, throughout the province and across the country; and

WHEREAS, Menstrual Health Day (MH Day) is a global day of action that was initiated by German non-profit WASH Union n 2014 to raise awareness and change how the world.

The City of Thunder Bay is advising the public that Cumberland Street, from McVicar Street to Howe Street, is fully closed starting today for major infrastructure work, including the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Cumberland Street and Water Street.

The closure will remain in effect until the fall to allow for the installation of new sewer and water infrastructure, along with full road and sidewalk reconstruction throughout the area.

The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to announce that more than 1,100 people attended this year’s Public Works Open House at Mountdale Yard, marking a tremendous turnout and celebrating a successful conclusion to National Public Works Week 2025.

Residents of all ages came out to enjoy the family-friendly event, which featured interactive displays, City vehicles, games, and more.
