City to Accept Applications for 2024 Affordable Access to Recreation & Transit Pilot as of Nov 1The City of Thunder Bay, in partnership with Lakehead Social Planning Council, has launched an Affordable Access to Recreation & Transit pilot program to reduce financial barriers for eligible residents to access City recreation and transit programs and services.
The three-year pilot program is administered through the Lakehead Social Planning Council and is open to residents whose after-tax household income is at or below the low income cut-off (LICO).
Women’s History Month Exhibit Inductees and Art Bus Design AnnouncedThe City has unveiled this year’s exceptional individuals and organizations inducted into the Women’s History Month Exhibit, as well as the related artwork to be featured on the City’s newest Art Bus.
Each October during Women’s History Month, new inductees are added to the City’s Women’s History Month online exhibit, recognizing and celebrating women of all ages who have played important roles in the Thunder Bay’s history and development.
Ten new firefighter recruits graduatingThunder Bay Fire Rescue is welcoming ten new firefighters to the job, at a graduation ceremony to be held this evening at the Fire Training Centre.
The graduation ceremony is the culmination of 14 weeks (over 500 hours) of training and education in:

- Hazardous Materials Operations
