Pacific Avenue Overpass to Reopen for Winter

The Pacific Avenue Overpass will reopen to vehicles and pedestrians starting on Saturday, October 31.

This important transportation corridor was closed for most of the 2026 construction season to allow for major rehabilitation. Work completed this year included repairs to concrete piers and abutments, replacement of deck joint assemblies and junction boxes, and deck patching. Work will continue on the underside of the bridge as weather allows, but will not impact traffic.

The Pacific Avenue Overpass will close again in spring 2027 for the construction season to allow for completion of this work.

The 12–East End Thunder Bay Transit route will resume its regular route on Monday, November 2. Transit users are encouraged to visit thunderbay.ca/Transit for the latest route details and service updates.
