Section of James Street to Close for Railway Maintenance

A section of James Street surrounding the James Street Underpass will be closed starting on Tuesday, October 13 as Canadian Pacific Kanas City (CPKC) conducts railway maintenance.

James Street South will be fully closed to traffic and pedestrians between Gore Street and Kingston Street for several weeks, with work expected to be completed by November 10, 2026. During this time, a detour will be in place via Gore Street, Mountdale Avenue, and Montreal Street.

Drivers are also encouraged to consider the alternate route of Highway 61 to access Chippewa Road and Fort William First Nation during this closure.
