Thunder Bay Welcomes Water and Wastewater Professionals from Across Northwestern Ontario

The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to welcome water and wastewater professionals from across Northwestern Ontario for the 69th annual Northwestern Ontario Water and Wastewater Conference (NWOWWC), taking place October 15–16, 2026, at the Delta Hotels by Marriott.

The annual conference brings together water and wastewater operators, municipal representatives, industry suppliers, government agencies, and other professionals to share knowledge, explore new technologies, and discuss emerging challenges facing the water and wastewater industry.

For over five decades, the conference has provided valuable technical education, professional development, and networking opportunities for those responsible for delivering safe drinking water, treating wastewater, and protecting the environment throughout Northwestern Ontario.

“Water and wastewater professionals play an essential role in protecting public health and our environment, yet much of their work happens behind the scenes,” said Dr. Ian Morgan, Executive Board Member & Master of Ceremony. “For over fifty years, this conference has brought professionals together to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and learn from one another. We're proud to continue that tradition and support the people who provide these essential services to our communities throughout Northwestern Ontario and beyond.”

The two-day event features technical presentations, industry exhibits, and opportunities for delegates to connect with experts and policymakers. These discussions help municipalities and industry professionals stay informed of advancements in water and wastewater treatment, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

Reliable water and wastewater infrastructure is essential to supporting healthy communities and sustainable growth. The conference highlights the expertise and collaboration needed to support Thunder Bay's long-term growth and development goals.

The 2026 Northwestern Ontario Water and Wastewater Conference is proudly supported by the CEDC Tourism Development Fund, whose funding helps support the delivery of this longstanding regional event.
