The ability to plant your favourite perennials or annuals on your boulevard could be a reality by next summer if the Boulevard Garden and Maintenance By-law is approved by City Council.

Before that can happen, the City will collect feedback on the proposed By-law.

As part of the process to update the Asset Management Plan (AMP), the City of Thunder Bay is seeking public feedback through a public survey focused on Parks and Open Spaces assets and services.

The Asset Management Plan helps the City make informed decisions about service delivery related to infrastructure and assets.

The City is asking residents to provide their feedback in a survey on the possibility of designating encampment locations on City-owned land for people experiencing homelessness who live outside and are unsheltered.

“Although the City is not a housing provider and does not provide direct services to those in encampments, we play a key coordinating role in our community’s response as most encampments are on City-owned lands,” said Cynthia Olsen, Director – Strategy & Engagement.

Residents of Thunder Bay are being asked to provide their feedback and input on the update to the Waterfront Master Plan, specific to the Pool 6 lands. 

“The Waterfront Master Plan hasn’t been updated since 2015, and since then several new opportunities have presented themselves”, said Guy Walter, Landscape Architect, City of Thunder Bay.

The City of Thunder Bay invites residents to come and learn more about what’s in store for arts, culture and heritage as the Recreation and Culture division presents the draft framework for its new Culture Plan. The drop-in style evening event, “Culture Vibes”, features live music and art activities, while also offering the public an opportunity to influence future strategies and cultural development in support of the arts, heritage, and cultural sector.

The committee examining the composition of Thunder Bay City Council launched a survey today so the public can provide input on potential changes to the composition of Thunder Bay City Council and the ward system.

The committee will be conducting significant consultation with the public in two phases.

If you walk, bike, wheel or drive, the City of Thunder Bay wants your feedback to help shape the Asset Management Plan.

Three short surveys have been released looking for input on Roads, Street Lighting and Traffic Signals, Bridges and Culverts, as well as Active Transportation (bike lanes, sidewalks and multi-use trails).

Citizens of Thunder Bay are encouraged to provide their input on existing and possible future pickleball facilities in the City. An online survey has been released today, and will be available until 11:55 pm on Nov.

This year the City has partnered with Zencity who will host the survey online for targeted continuous monitoring of residents’ opinions and satisfaction levels.
