The proposed 2021 Municipal Budget forms the starting point for City Council’s detailed review. This year’s budget provides an increase in the municipal tax levy after growth of $4 million or 2%.

The public is invited to watch a virtual presentation by Stantec Architecture on the proposed Chapples multi-use indoor turf facility and provide comment. The presentation and comment form are available until July 19, at www.thunderbay.ca/GetInvolved.

The public is invited to view Grant Thornton’s Phase Two Report of the City’s Programs and Services and share comments from now until July 31.

The comments will be provided to Members of Council for consideration when they discuss the recommendations at a Special Committee of the Whole in September.

A draft plan for removing the nearly 70-year-old wooden dock and breakwater on the east side of Chippewa Park beach, as well as erosion protection for the adjoining shoreline and maintaining fish habitat is now available for public review.

The plan has been prepared on behalf of the City of Thunder Bay and The Friends of Chippewa Park by JML Engineering, and was funded by the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Parks and Conservation.

Thunder Bay City Council has declared the third Saturday in June to be Neighbour Day each year. Thunder Bay’s first Neighbour Day is set for Saturday, June 20.

In March 2019, and before the pandemic City Council approved a review to improve understanding of the programs and services currently provided by the City and provide information that will allow Council and administration to make informed strategic choices regarding those programs and services.

The objective is to help City Council achieve its goals and determine how the Corporation can improve the services that matter most to Thunder Bay residents, both now and into the future.
