As part of the COVID-19 Severe Weather Response Plan, the City is issuing an alert to the community because of a snowfall warning with total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm, and easterly winds gusting to 50 km/h resulting in local blowing snow.
During cold weather and times of heavy snowfall, residents are encouraged to check in with vulnerable friends, neighbours and family to ensure they are not experiencing any difficulties related to the weather.

City to Host Additional Evacuees from Deer Lake First NationThe City of Thunder Bay will welcome 101 evacuees from Deer Lake First Nation which is currently under threat from a 27,549 hectare fire, RED 051, burning 15 km away from Deer Lake and growing in size due to weather conditions.
The 101 people, who are considered stage one primary evacuees – members of the community’s vulnerable population, are anticipated to arrive this afternoon.
City to Host Poplar Hill First Nation Forest Fire EvacueesThe City of Thunder Bay is preparing to receive evacuees from Poplar Hill First Nation today due to the close proximity of the 350 hectare forest fire, RED065, which began on July 5, and is currently burning 10 km west of the community and poses an immediate threat to public safety.
Up to 300 members of the community’s vulnerable population will be arriving in Thunder Bay this afternoon.
