The City of Thunder Bay is excited to announce the return of Winter FunDays! Starting Sunday, January 5, 2025, and running every Sunday until March 16, 2025, this weekly program offers free outdoor and indoor activities for all ages.

Winter FunDays will take place in various community parks, with indoor programming hosted at the Baggage Building Arts Centre each week.

 The City of Thunder Bay is looking for public feedback to help inform the decision of what public art will be permanently installed as part of the City’s North Core Street Scape Public Art Installations Project in summer of 2025. 

The feedback opportunity is for four works of art that have been selected as finalists for two locations - Court Street Plaza (north-west corner of Court Street North and Red River Road), and Mall Street Plaza (at Mall Street and Red River Road.

The ice rink at Prince Arthur's Landing is now open for the season and will operate daily from 12 pm to 9 pm. Residents and visitors of all ages and abilities are welcome to enjoy skating at the waterfront throughout the winter months.

The Stanley Cup will return to Thunder Bay this year, with 2023-2024 Stanley Cup Champion Jamie Kompon, Assistant Coach of the Florida Panthers, taking part in a community event with Lord Stanley’s Cup.

The public will have the chance to view and have their photo taken with the Stanley Cup on Wednesday, September 11 from 3 – 5 pm at Port Arthur Stadium.

With fall quickly approaching, the City will begin adjusting hours for indoor pools and closing outdoor pools, beaches, and splash pads, starting with Sandy Beach at Chippewa Park, and the Main Beach at Boulevard Lake, closing this weekend on Aug 31, followed by Art Widnall and Heath pools on Sept. 1.
