Pioneer Ridge provides long-term care based on the needs of individuals determined by medical, nursing, functional, and psychosocial assessments. Care provided at Pioneer Ridge includes restorative, supportive, and palliative care for people who cannot live alone in their homes, and whose needs cannot be met in the community. What do I pay?

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) and the City of Thunder Bay provides funding for homes. The amount paid by residents for their accommodation is called the resident "co-payment".

The MOHLTC sets accommodation co-payment rates. These rates change at a minimum, annually.

Rate Structure for Pioneer Ridge

Residents pay based on their income up to a maximum amount.  Where a resident has low income, they are entitled to apply for a rate reduction. In which case, the income tax assessment issued from Canada Customs and Revenue Agency is required. The Pioneer Ridge Business Office can provide a rate reduction application form to complete. The MOHLTC will determine the rate that applies according to your income status.
