Two Leaf and Yard Waste Collections this SpringThis spring there will be two Leaf & Yard Waste curbside collections. The first will take place between May 13 and 23, and the second between June 10 and 20 - on residents’ regular recycling days.
Waste collection changes for week before Easter (2)Curbside waste collection dates will change next week due to the Good Friday statutory holiday.
Garbage and recycling collection will move one day earlier for all residents.
Garbage Collection CancelledDue to snow accumulation and slippery road conditions, garbage collection is cancelled for today.
Residents in Area 4: Zones 1 and 2, who normally receive garbage collection on Fridays, are asked to leave their garbage at the curb for collection tomorrow: Saturday, March 1.
Extra item of garbage allowed after New Year’s Day (1)With the increase in waste that is generated during the holiday season, the City will allow residents to put out a third item of garbage with no tag on the first collection date after New Year’s Day.

HO HO HOLD the Waste - Holiday Waste Reduction ContestTo encourage waste reduction during the festive season, Thunder Bay Solid Waste & Recycling Services is pleased to announce its 2024 “Ho Ho Hold the Waste” Holiday Waste Reduction Contest, which invites local residents to show their creative and sustainable ways of reducing the amount of waste they produce during the holidays.
The contest has begun, and runs through Jan.
Solid Waste & Recycling Facility closed on Remembrance DayThe City’s Solid Waste & Recycling Facility will be closed on the Remembrance Day statutory holiday, Monday, Nov. 11.
