Leaf & Yard Waste Collection Takes Place Between May 19-29The City of Thunder Bay’s spring curbside collection of organic leaf and yard waste will take place from May 19 – 29, on resident’s regular recycling days.
Homeowners must use Kraft (paper bags) for leaf and yard waste.
Christmas Tree Drop-off Sites Open Boxing DayThe City will once again recycle natural trees this holiday season, grinding the trees into wood chips to be added to the compost pile at the City’s Solid Waste & Recycling Facility. Compost is given away each spring to beautify residents' lawns and flower gardens.
Waste and Recycling Collection Changes During the HolidaysGarbage and recycling collection dates for all residents and businesses will change for the weeks of Dec. 22 and Dec.
Residents Reminded to Not Place Waste on SnowbanksThe City would like to remind residents not to place waste and recycling bags or cans on snowbanks during collection days.
“Waste on snowbanks poses a danger to both residents and waste collection crews,” said Jason Sherband, Manager – Solid Waste & Recycling Services.
Solid Waste & Recycling Facility Closed for Remembrance DayThe City’s Solid Waste & Recycling Facility be closed on Monday, Nov. 11, for the Remembrance Day statutory holiday.
Curbside Battery Collection Program CancelledBatteries can still be recycled at designated drop-off locations, however, the curbside battery collection program has been cancelled going forward.
“This program proved to be very successful,” said Jason Sherband, Manager – Solid Waste and Recycling Services.
Residents Invited to Celebrate National Public Works Week (1)Residents are invited to celebrate National Public Works Week at a free open house this weekend that will highlight and celebrate the work that public servants do to keep our city running.
The open house for residents will take place on Saturday, May 25, from 11 am – 2 pm at the Mountdale Public Works Yard, 410 Mountdale Ave.
