Movie Night Under the Stars at Summer Fun Night!
Grab your chairs, blankets, and favourite snacks and join us for a magical evening at Summer Fun Night on Thursday, August 13, at Vickers Park.
6:00 PM – Pre-show programming

Together on a Saturday brings the community together through fun activities and creative experiences for kids, adults, and older adults alike. It’s a great way to connect, meet local organizations, and enjoy time with your neighbours.

Neighbour Day - September 19, 2026

Neighbour Day is a wonderful way to bring neighbours together to build a strong and caring community. It allows our us to plan and host activities to celebrate our vibrant and diverse neighbourhoods. It also provides an opportunity for neighbours to form strong relationships and helps neighbourhoods become more welcoming, safe and inclusive places to live.

Take part in free community programming, the Pedal Forward bike program, and a movie screening under the stars!

Pedal Forward 

Pedal Forward is a pop-up bike program led by the City of Thunder Bay’s Culture & Events team, in partnership with Community Spokes and Active Transportation Thunder Bay. This free, drop-in initiative invites community members to repair and ride away with an upcycled bicycle — all while learning basic bike maintenance skills in a welcoming, hands-on environment.

By promoting active transportation, sustainability, and social inclusion, Pedal Forward helps improve access to bikes, encourage sustainable mobility, and strengthen community connections.

Catch us this 2026 Summer! 

  • Canada Day at the Waterfront: 50 bikes given away, with riders receiving hands-on repair training to build confidence and independence.

  • Together for a Sizzle: July 28, 3 PM - 6 PM, Minnesota Park

  • Summer Fun Night at Vickers Park: August 13, 6 PM - 9 PM, Vickers Park

  • Neighbour Day at Northwood Kinsmen Centre: September 19, 6 PM - 9 PM, Northwood Playfields

Retirement Explorers 

Retirement Explorers is a free, drop-in program for retirees who love to learn, explore new ideas, deepen their knowledge, engage in meaningful discussions, and connect with friends.

In partnership with the Thunder Bay Public Library, sessions run every Friday from October to December and January to April at the Mary J.L. Black Community Hub (901 Edward Street).

No registration is required—just drop in and join the fun!

Culture Days - September 18 - October 11, 2026

Culture Days is an annual national celebration that has become one of the Country's largest participatory cultural events. Dates to be determined.

Winter FunDays 

Bundle up and join us for Winter FunDays 2026 — a season-long celebration of winter fun, creativity, and community.

From skating and snowshoeing to arts, crafts, and hands-on outdoor experiences, we can’t wait to celebrate the magic of winter with you.

All activities are free and open to everyone.

What to Expect

Winter FunDays takes place outdoors at various locations throughout Marina Park, with indoor arts and crafts hosted weekly at the Baggage Building Arts Centre. It’s the perfect opportunity to connect with your community, enjoy the outdoors, and explore both creative and recreational winter activities.
