In the spring and fall, the City provides leaf and yard waste collection on designated days.

We encourage everyone to help prevent litter in our City. We run waste reduction activities through the year.

The City also operates the Solid Waste and Recycling Facility (Landfill) on Mapleward Road to help manage our waste.

Our Green Guide is a comprehensive household waste reduction handbook for residents in the City of Thunder Bay. The guide offers information about the City's landfill and recycling programs, "green" community groups, and what to do with hazardous waste and electronic waste. Our Green Guide also includes and A-to-Z listing of items and their safe disposal/donation options.

Solid Waste Management Strategy

The Solid Waste Management Strategy was completed and presented to City Council in April 2014. The SWMS provides direction for optimizing current and future residential, and industrial, commercial, and institutional solid waste programs to best meet Thunder Bay's needs over the next 20 years.
