Below you can find the garbage and recycling pick-up calendars for your area. We also offer a reminder service to help you never to forget a collection day (sign-up below).

In the spring and fall, the City provides leaf and yard collection on designated days.

We encourage everyone to help prevent litter in our City. We run waste reduction activities through the year.

The City also operates the Solid Waste and Recycling Facility (Landfill) on Mapleward Road to help manage our waste.

Residents are encouraged to use ReCollect, a free service that offers automatic waste and recycling reminders by email, app, phone call or Twitter.

To find your collection date(s) enter your address below. Then you'll see options to set up free reminders, or to view/print your waste collection calendar.

Solid Waste Management Strategy

The Solid Waste Management Strategy was completed and presented to City Council in April 2014. The SWMS provides direction for optimizing current and future residential, and industrial, commercial, and institutional solid waste programs to best meet Thunder Bay's needs over the next 20 years.
