Keeping Thunder Bay Clean, Green & Beautiful is up to all of us. We invite you to get involved! Clean, green & beautiful cities attract visitors, workers and investment while allowing us to live, work and play in well-maintained, safe and pleasant surroundings.

Making change in our community

The Clean, Green & Beautiful Committee works to enhance our city by fostering public art, beautification, heritage and environmental greening initiatives.

Emerging Project Grant Application

The Committee supports projects that beautify our City and enhance civic pride. Organizations can get funds for projects that enhance the function, look and feel of where we live, work and play through public art, beautification, heritage and environmental greening initiatives. Deadline is June 24, 2024.

Emerging Projects are open to local organizations and businesses, city committees, and city departments for grants up to $5000. Larger contributions will be considered based on tangible community benefits and availability of funds. Studies, research, plans, or administration fees, however important, are not eligible for funding from this source.

Projects should:

  • Provide clear, and highly visible benefits to the community
  • Demonstrate potential for long-term impact or must be high impact if project is for a shorter duration
  • Align with, or further the Clean, Green & Beautiful Committee’s objectives
  • Bring recognition of the Clean, Green & Beautiful Committee’s contribution to further promote the Clean, Green & Beautiful Committee mandate

Clean, Green & Beautiful Awards

The Clean, Green and Beautiful Committee has partnered with the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce to present the Clean, Green and Beautiful Award. The Award is presented to a business or organization enriching the life of the community through a combination of public art, beautification, heritage, greening and environmental preservation. Look for the Clean, Green & Beautiful Award presented as part of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce's Business Excellence Awards.

Urban beautification

Through a partnership between the Clean, Green and Beautiful Committee and the City’s Planning Division, an Urban Design study was completed in 2012. The City now has two documents, the Urban Design Guidelines and the Image Route Guidelines, that guide the design of private and public lands improving the quality of our City's built environment.

The Image Route Guidelines identify key streets in our city called "image routes" and describe ways that we can enhance these routes.
