COVID-19 updates
City recreation and culture facilities and programs have been temporarily closed for an indefinite period. To stay up to date on facility and program reopenings, visit the City’s COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus page or the A-Z Directory during COVID.
Program registration
Winter Programming can be found in the City's section of The Key. Credits are being applied to classes/programs that have been cancelled due to the shutdown or changing guidelines.
Spring Programming will be available as of February 26 when the Spring Key comes out. The Key is no longer being delivered to homes, but copies will be available at various agencies and recreation facilities around town, or view it online.
- 55 Plus Program registration: begins February 24
- All other City recreational programs: begins March 1
- Call 807-625-8463 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to register for an activity, or call one of these facilities directly as of the dates listed above:

Facility reopenings
Recreation facilities will gradually reopen in the Red - Control level following the shutdown starting on February 16. See the list below for specific dates based on facility type.
- Arenas - Feb. 17
- Canada Games Complex - Feb. 22 (for pool activities, main floor weight/cardio room and fitness classes only in Red)
- Churchill Pool - Feb. 17
- Community Centres: Current River, North McIntyre, Oliver Road, Vale, West Arthur and West Thunder Community Centres to reopen gradually for programming between Feb. 16 - Mar. 1 (contact a facility directly for specific details)
- Jumbo, North End, South Neebing, Vickers Heights will remain closed during Red.
- Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre - Feb. 22
- West Arthur 55 Plus Programming - Feb. 25

Search for an activity
Programs quickly fill up, so register early! Recreation activities may be found in The Key recreation guide. The Recreation & Culture Division only registers participants for City programs. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Canada Games Complex, Churchill Pool, Volunteer Pool, Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre, and the Recreation & Culture Division take in-person registrations during normal hours of operation. Payments can be made by cash, cheque, money order, or Visa™/MasterCard™.

Satisfaction guaranteed
We sincerely hope that you enjoy our programs. If not completely satisfied, speak to the Supervisor of the program area BEFORE the second class to receive a FULL refund. Refunds granted after the second class are pro-rated. Medical certificates may be required. No refunds after mid-point of programs.
Confirmation of enrolment
If you receive your first choice in programs, you will not hear from us. Simply attend the first class. If your first choice is not available, we will contact you by telephone. Receipts will be available at the location of the first class/lesson.
Need help paying fees?
The Recreation & Culture Division has a policy to assist people who wish to participate in its instructional programs. If you require assistance with program fees, you must contact a supervisor at 807-625-2351 prior to submitting your registration form. This policy only applies to registered programs directly administered by the Recreation & Culture Division. Children may apply for program registration through PRO Kids, or call 807-625-3212.
