Winter FunDays 2023

Enjoy FREE winter programming for the whole family THIS WINTER! 

Winter FunDays will start on Sunday, Jan. 8 the and run every Sunday until Sun. March 19 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. The weekly activities will be held at Marina Park and in neighbourhoods throughout the city. 

Outdoor Programming

Sunday January 8, 2023 

Outdoor Snow Sculpting, A Field of Mini Snow-Folk with Community Arts and Heritage Education Project
(CAHEP).  Create and paint a community-made mini-snow folk using snow and food colouring. 

Location: Marina Park, Green Lawn area across from the Prince Arthurs Landing skating rink. 

Sunday January 15, 2023 

Join the Boreal Museum and embark on a grab and go winter scavenger hunt.  Learn about insulation and
staying warm in the winter!

Sunday January 22, 2023 - West Arthur Community Centre

Join in the fun at the West Arthur Community Centre.  Enjoy a bonfire, figure skating demo and indoor    art activities provided by The Community Arts and Heritage Education Project (CAHEP). 

Location: 1914 Arthur St West, West Arthur Community Centre. 

Sunday January 29, 2023 - Dick Waddington Park. 

Please note this event will run from 12:00pm-4:00pm. 

Boreal Journeys Sled Dog Kennel returns to Winter FunDays for another afternoon of fun! Join them for a scenic dogsled ride through the snow and fresh air.  Waiting families can enjoy a bonfire and craft station with the Community Arts and Heritage Education Project (CAHEP). 

Note that this is an extended activity running from 12pm to 4pm. Please note, rides are for children only aged 14 and under.

Join us for a Disney Costume DJ Skating Party with Maverick Entertainment and All the Daze Productions!  Don't forget to wear your costume!

Join the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre as they assist you in bannock making over a fire!  We will also have an Outdoor tracking project with & Community Arts & Heritage Education Project (CAHEP).

You can enjoy some Pre-SnowDay viewings of Snow Sculptures and outdoor activities with Youth Move in the Green Lawn Area across from the Prince Arthur Landing Skating Rink.

Sunday February 26, 2023 - Chapples Park 

Come down to Chapples Park and enjoy the snowshoeing trails and outdoor activities with the Thunder Bay Museum!   Snowshoes will need to be signed out and will be provided on a first come first serve basis.

Sunday March 5, 2023 - Minnesota Park 

Join Science North for fun Winter Science at Minnesota Park.

Sunday March 12, 2023 - Strathcona Golf Course 

Join in the fun at Strathcona golf course as you snowshoe through the beautifully groomed trails! Snowshoes will need to be signed out and will be provided on a first come first serve basis.

Winter FunDays in partnership with the Community Arts and Heritage Education Project (CAHEP) will host indoor craft activities at the Baggage Building Arts Centre throughout the winter.

All activities will take place indoors at the Baggage Building Arts Centre - 2200 Sleeping Giant Pkwy
