Thank you to everyone who joined us for Winter FunDays 2026! From January through March, our community came together each Sunday to celebrate the magic of winter through outdoor adventures, creative activities, and shared experiences.
From skating and snowshoeing to arts, crafts, and hands-on fun at the Baggage Building Arts Centre, it was amazing to see Marina Park filled with energy, laughter, and connection.
We’re so grateful to all of our participants, partners, and volunteers who helped make this season such a success.
We hope you made some great memories—and we can’t wait to see you again next winter.

Sunday January 5, 2025 Introduction to Figure Skating Join us for a fun and exciting introduction to the world of figure skating! Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience on the ice, this program is designed to help you learn the basics of figure skating in a supportive and friendly environment. Led by experienced skaters from Thunder Bay Figure Skating Club this will feature the opportunity to see and learn some figure skating skills. Feathered Wings - Crafts with CAHEP Unleash your creativity and design unique paper feathers using ink, pencil crayons, pastels, watercolor, acrylic, and other craft materials. Take your feather home or contribute it to a collective wing installation on the wall, perfect for selfies! Celebrate community and creativity while leaving your mark on a beautiful display that will remain throughout Winter Fun Days. Location: Baggage Building Arts Centre Time: 2:00-4:00pm
All the DAZE Productions All the DAZE Productions will be serving hot chocolate in the Bagage Building Arts Centre as the cast of FROZEN Jr. Warm-up with Elsa, Anna and Olaf. Sunday January 12, 2025 Cabane à Sucre Stop by the Cabane à Sucre (Sugar Shack) hosted by Club Culturel Francophone and treat yourself to fresh maple candy! Bring your skates, enjoy the beauty of Marina Park, and take part in all the other exciting Winter FunDays programming. Location: Baggage Building Arts Centre Time: 2:00-4:00pm
Fibre Arts Puppets & Toys - Crafts with CAHEP Transform mittens, gloves, or socks into one-of-a-kind puppets or stuffed toys with the guidance of professional fibre artists. Explore sewing techniques and craft decorations to create a unique toy or interactive puppet that's entirely your own. All materials provided—bring your imagination! All the DAZE Productions Join us for an interactive workshop to sing, dance and become the characters of Frozen. All the DAZE Productions will present a FREE theatre workshop to participants aged 7-11 in the Baggage Building Arts Centre. Limited to 20 participants. Sunday January 19, 2025 Snowshoeing at Chapples with NRP and JIS Join Neighbourhood Recreation Program and Junior Inclusion Services as we embrace winter and experience the thrill of snowshoeing! Poetry Art - Crafts with CAHEP Combine words and art to express yourself! Craft poetry from magazine cutouts and layer it over your own artwork using various media. Pop Culture Collage - Crafts with CAHEP Dive into a world of imagery! Create personal, layered collages using magazines, books, and more. Mix media to explore unique artistic directions, whether inspired by pop culture or your own ideas. A great project for all ages, with plenty of materials and guidance to help you shine. Sunday February 2, 2025 Skate with Kam River Fighting Walleye Lace up your skates for an afternoon on the ice with the Kam River Fighting Walleye! Skating Lace up your skates and enjoy the rink, ready for you to glide across. With FREE parking available at Marina Park on Sundays, it’s the perfect time to bundle up in your coziest winter gear and take advantage of all the beauty and recreation Marina Park has to offer.
3D Paper Animals - Crafts with CAHEP Join CAHEP in the Baggage Building Arts Centre and build layered 3D paper animals using colorful painted or decorated paper. Create each part of your animal in layers and assemble them with accordion-style paper strips for a dynamic and fun result. Let your imagination guide your design!
All the DAZE Productions Join Olaf from 2-4pm to sing, dance and participate in theatre games in the Baggage Building Arts Centre. All the DAZE Productions will present a FREE theatre workshop to participants aged 7-11 in the Baggage Building Arts Centre. Limited to 20 participants.

Sunday March 16, 2025 St Patrick's Day BBQ with Children and Youth Programs Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a festive BBQ! Join us for an afternoon of good food, great company, and lively fun as we fire up the grill and serve up delicious BBQ favorites with a St. Paddy’s twist. Enjoy BBQ snacks and refreshing drinks—all while soaking in the spirit of the holiday. Wear your green, bring your friends, and let's make this St. Patrick’s Day one to remember! Outdoor Snowshoeing & Scavenger Hunt with the Neighbourhood Recreation Program and Crafts with Thunder Bay Museum Join our Neighbourhood Recreation Program Staff on a scavenger hunt around Chapples park and try out a snowshoeing course around the park. Sunday January 28, 2024 Scratch Art Project with CAHEP (Community Arts & Heritage Education Project) Create a beautiful Winter Games inspired masterpiece. Scratch Art is created by first colouring an abstract base out of pastels, covering it with a layer of black paint and then scratching away the paint to reveal a beautiful piece of art.
