The eleventh annual respect. Award recipients were announced during the Diversity Thunder Bay Annual celebration event, marking the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Based on current ice conditions and forecasted snowfall and temperatures, the City’s outdoor rinks will be closing for the season this Monday, March 20.

Crews will be out clearing the rinks through the weekend and skating surfaces will be assessed.

WHEREAS, Ontario Poison Centre (OPC) is a non-profit telephone health promotion service which operates 24/7, answering calls from homes, hospitals, EMS, group homes and LTC to assist in and support toxic exposures; and

The City of Thunder Bay is inviting talent, food vendors, event vendors, artists/ artisans and community groups to apply to participate in the City’s annual community events season.

The 2023 events season includes 19 event days, including two event series: Live on the Waterfront and Movie Nights in the Parks.

As a result of the recent spring weather, ice conditions at the City’s outdoor rinks are deteriorating and some rinks have been closed for the season and some others are now “boot-only”.

The following rinks are closed:

• Wilson Park rink
• Third & High Park rink
• Woodside Parkette pond
• Anten Parkette pond
• Picton Parkette pond
• Waddington Park loop
• Brent Park loop

The following rinks are boot-only:

• James Street South rink
• Minnesota Park rink

All other outdoor rinks currently remain open, including the rink at.

A report from Administration will be presented to City Council on March 6 recommending that a contract be awarded for significant maintenance and construction work at the Canada Games Complex.

Subject to Council’s approval, the facility will close for approximately four months, beginning on June 4.

WHEREAS, March is Amyloidosis Awareness Month, a month dedicated to raising awareness, funding research, and supporting those living with amyloidosis and their loved ones; and

WHEREAS, Amyloidosis is a group of diseases that occurs when an abnormal protein, known as amyloid, builds up in the tissues and organs of the body. Left untreated, the disease can result in organ failure and can be fatal; and

WHEREAS, Amyloidosis can mimic the signs and symptoms of more common medical conditions.
