 I am a lifelong Thunder Bay resident, proud husband to Chelsea and proud father to Madison and my heavenly son, Travis. I love Thunder Bay and its people. This is home, and I want to build a stronger future for everyone. At 56, I am the youngest candidate for Mayor, while bringing 25 years of experience on City Council.

Experience matters. First elected in 2000, I have served seven consecutive terms and bring more municipal experience than the other nine candidates for Mayor combined.

When I was first elected, I wasn’t ready to be Mayor, and I knew it. Municipal government is complex and takes time to understand. Thunder Bay has tremendous opportunities ahead, and we cannot afford to stand still while someone learns the job. I’m ready to lead from day one.

I began my career as a Registered Nurse, where I learned compassion, accountability and how to make difficult decisions.

Promises without a plan are just that, promises. Thunder Bay needs a realistic plan and the experience to deliver it. My plan is Smart Growth.

As Chair of Thunder Bay’s Growth Standing Committee, I have helped lead our long-term growth strategy, with over 100 action items focused on investment, housing, population and economic growth.

Smart Growth means expanding our tax base to renew infrastructure, create safer streets, strengthen neighbourhoods, create good jobs and reduce pressure on taxpayers.

I won’t bring experiments to City Council. I’ll bring experience, leadership and results.

If elected, I will focus council’s efforts on fixing our roads. Council’s committee system will be restructured to put basic infrastructure front and centre monthly. Policing our downtowns will become a priority. We’re spending tens of millions of dollars to fix our core areas. But to what end if people don’t feel safe going living, working and visiting our downtowns? Money for the roads will come from eliminating duplication in back office services. We will create a special corporation to provide payroll, billing, Human Resources and IT services for the city, TBaytel, Synergy North, the police department and the District Social Services Administration Board. A new task force on housing will bring together indigenous housing agencies to develop a plan to provide housing for the people moving to the city from the Far North. Once the backlog of road repairs is reached, I will move to create a Sovereign Wealth Fund where the annual TBaytel dividend of about $20 million a year will be invested for 25 years. This fund will be used to pay for big projects we need to do. I will push to eliminate all manual paper processes at city hall and replace them with digital operations. I want to make city hall so efficient that we can actually sell our services such as back office operations, planning and legal services to other municipalities. This will turn city hall into a revenue-generating operation instead of just a place that costs taxpayers.

We need action. I have built a platform on four pillars: Affordability, Leadership, Security, and Sustainability. I bring to the forum my many years in planning and operations with the forest industry, serving as a continuous improvement agent, project manager, and systems analyst charged with product development and improving corporate outcomes. My most recent career was in the charity sector elevating a basement food banking organization, into a reputable regional centre for food security. We the people of Thunder Bay are entitled to affordable housing and local nutritious food. We are charged with the task of creating safe spaces, improving infrastructure, reviewing maintenance practices and responding to concerns in a timely manner. My role is to build a team, accountable to the people, to local businesses, investors, and social agencies that all contribute to a positive future for our children's children, while supporting current community builders and youth. My name is Aldo Ruberto. I am the son of immigrant parents, Salvatore (Sam) and Caterina (Nina) Ruberto. I am married to Lori Ruberto, a former teacher and principal. Lori and I have two children. Casey, (Exercise Physiologist and kinesiologist), Jessi, (Lawyer.) We also have two lovely grandchildren.

I have been involved in municipal politics for the past 16 years, serving on many boards and committees. I remain active presently serving on the Southcore Business Association (BIA) as Chair.

I'm Wolfgang Schoor, and I'm seeking to serve you as the Mayor of Thunder Bay, a city I called home for over 30 years.

I spent my lifetime focusing on hands-on construction work and deep academic study, and I believe that this combination is exactly what our city council needs right now. I studied at the University of Waterloo, the University of Guelph, Lakehead University, and Confederation College,and eight years in Engineering and Architectural Design Construction Technology. My studies span Applied Ergonomics within the Building Sciences, Domestic Ergonomics, Environmental and Regional Planning, Canadian History including Indigenous Studies, Intellectual Property Law, and Social Engineering within the Applied Sciences. I'm also a certified master carpenter and joiner in both Germany and Canada, and a certified construction superintendent, supervisor, project manager, along with a business management diploma.

I watched Thunder Bay slide from a vibrant, safe, and prosperous community into one struggling with an unacceptably high crime rate, rising homelessness, a shortage of affordable housing, high unemployment, and public safety concerns that leave too many residents feeling afraid in their own neighborhoods.

I want to help bring well-planned organizational structure back to our city, restore public health, safety, and trust, help to rebuild infrastructure, bring businesses back, and improve safe public transportation for everyone.

Having served five terms on Thunder Bay City Council as both a Ward and At-Large Councillor, I bring extensive experience in municipal legislation, governance and finance. I would like to continue putting that experience to work for the people of Thunder Bay.

My commitment is to continue making sound, long-term financial decisions while investing in infrastructure renewal and improving our quality of life. Strategic investment in physical and social infrastructure is essential to controlling costs and making Thunder Bay an attractive place to live, work and prosper.

My priority is to keep property tax increases at inflationary levels over the next term of Council. Controlling spending and implementing the Smart Growth Action Plan will be key to keeping property taxes affordable.

My record is one of getting results. As Chair of the Waterfront Development Committee, I helped oversee the creation of Prince Arthur’s Landing – a project that attracted more than $100 million in private, federal and provincial investment to Thunder Bay. My name is Gene Capar. I was born in Thunder Bay and have lived here most of my life. Currently, I live in the McKellar Ward with my wife, son, and two dogs.

I have chosen to throw my hat in the ring for several reasons, but it mainly boils down to putting my “money where my mouth is”. I have lots of political thoughts and issues with how our city is being run, so here is my opportunity to do something about it.

Beyond that, I simply see a lack of people from similar backgrounds running for or sitting on council. I want to be the voice for those who have had addiction issues affect their life, who grew up on assistance, who saw the struggle of a single parent, and who live or have lived in geared-to-income housing.

I want to represent people who, like me, have lost family and friends to addiction, self-harm, and violent crime. I would speak on behalf of the multitude of families who, like mine, are only one or two bad bumps from the raggedy edge.

If given a mandate to represent the people of this city, I promise to make my voice heard. I promise to investigate what city council could be doing to effectively, but compassionately, make headway against the crisis of homelessness. Not only through the development of new buildings, but by taking a hard look at the societal root causes of homelessness.

For 35 years, I have shown up for Thunder Bay in uniform, in the boardroom, and on the front lines of local economic growth. Now I am bringing that commitment to my candidacy for Councillor, At-Large.

I currently serve as Executive Director of the North Superior Workforce Planning Board and a Trustee with the Lakehead District School Board. Before that, I spent over three decades with the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development as a Community Development Officer, collaborating with employers, municipalities, and Indigenous organizations to grow Northwest Ontario's economy. My public service began even earlier, with 17 years in the Royal Canadian Navy.

I hold an MBA and two degrees in Political Science from Lakehead University and have served on the Growth Plan Advisory Council, the Chamber of Commerce Education, Training & Skills Development Taskforce and the Naval Reserve Association of Canada. I am a recipient of the City's Citizens of Exceptional Achievement Award and hold the Canadian Armed Forces Service Medal.

My wife and I have raised our two daughters here, and I know firsthand what families in this city need to thrive: good jobs, responsible spending, and a council that listens.

I’m not a career politician. I’m a healthcare worker who sits in a political seat.

After more than 35 years in healthcare, I understand that things are not always as simple as they look from the outside. Council decisions are complex and have real impacts on people’s lives. My background has taught me to make evidence-based decisions, understand the information, ask questions, follow good process and listen to the people affected by our decisions.

Over the past four years, I have worked hard to understand the issues facing us and find solutions. I don’t just show up to vote at City Hall. I work with community organizations, neighbouring municipalities, Indigenous partners and provincial and federal governments to advocate for Thunder Bay and bring opportunities and resources back to our community.

Relationship building is one of my strengths. I believe we accomplish more when we work together - with the people of Thunder Bay, our Indigenous partners, neighbouring communities and other levels of government.

Before I am a candidate, before I am anything else, I am a father.

My children are why I keep moving forward. They have taught me patience, responsibility, and love. I want them—and every child in Thunder Bay—to grow up knowing their voice matters and hardship does not define them.

My journey has included childhood trauma, chronic pain, and financial hardship. Thunder Bay became my fresh start. It gave me the opportunity to rebuild my life.

I went back to school, earned an Honours Bachelor of Social Work, and became a Registered Social Worker. Today, as a cultural mental health worker, I support young people through counselling, advocacy, and culture. I also founded Nanabijou Productions, an Indigenous-led production company.

These experiences shape what I want to bring to City Hall: a Thunder Bay that is affordable, safe in every neighbourhood, creates opportunity, takes care of the infrastructure people rely on, and is responsible with taxpayers' money.

I want a city where people feel they belong. Whether you have lived here your whole life or came here looking for a fresh start like I did, your voice should matter.

I was born and raised in Thunder Bay and have spent over a decade building an inclusive, community-oriented coffee-roasting business. I have also worked at both the municipal and federal levels, including in city planning and Indigenous land claims. Those roles, along with running my business, have shown me how public decisions affect residents, local businesses, and community organizations—and why clear priorities and coordination matter.

I am running for Councillor At Large because I love this city and believe in its potential. I want Thunder Bay to be a livable city where people, the environment, and the economy can thrive. Growth should improve daily life, strengthen existing neighbourhoods, and match what our infrastructure and workforce can support—not be pursued simply for its own sake.

I worked as a chiropractor for 38 years in which I spent my career listening to people, understanding their concerns, and helping them find practical solutions. I believe those same skills are essential to serving our community on City Council. Recently retired, have the time to devote to work towards solutions that benefit our city. I am the former Treasurer for The Northwood Hockey League as well previously on the executive at the Da Vinci Centre. I am a member of the Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association and served as past president of Thunder Bay and District Chiropractic Society.
I am running for City Council because I want to bring a thoughtful, responsible, and community-focused voice to local government.
Responsible municipal spending is a priority for me. Residents deserve to know that their tax dollars are being used wisely. I will support careful budgeting, transparency, and decisions that provide real value while keeping our community financially responsible.

Growing up in Thunder Bay I remember when you would struggle to see even a single homeless person. After returning home from my studies in Norway, I found myself in a deep melancholy as I commuted the city. Not only are those struggling with poverty distressed but even those who are financially secure have become fearful of walking the streets we once enjoy freely.

I believe Thunder Bay has the potential not only to recover, but to exceed what it once was. Addressing homelessness is just the beginning, and it will require more than good intentions, simple explanations, or vanity projects. It will require examining evidence, questioning our existing systems, and forward looking planning. Reducing homelessness should therefore not be about simply spending more but finding better ways to use what we already have while investing where results genuinely occur.

My approach to governance will seek to balance the real costs borne by us with the needs and desires we all share. Time and public resources are limited and the costs of ineffective systems ultimately fall on everyone through municipal taxes, including the very people we seek to help.

Within this context I have tried to keep my specific proposals for the Current-River Ward modest. I hope they will deliver meaningful improvements to the ward while being cost effective. I have also received feedback from residents on many specific Current-River issues. I look forward to working with residents to address them.

My name is Cory Bagdon, a candidate to represent the Red River ward. I was born here in Thunder Bay and grew up in the Red River community.

I earned a degree in Astrophysics from Queen’s University, a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University, a furniture making certificate from Selkirk College, and most recently, a Master of Science degree in Ecological Economics from the University of Edinburgh where my two primary areas of research were in the sustainability of interconnected complex systems and participatory policy making.

I am a candidate in Red River because of my deep history in the community and because I believe strongly in the opportunities for growth and progress that Red River offers the whole City of Thunder Bay. In an increasingly challenging and divisive world today I think the best option we have is to work together cooperatively and to embrace the fact that growth comes from the bottom-up.

My platform is simple: building community through connections. This means strengthening our communities by supporting city efforts that bring people together, that act as hubs for public engagement, and that connect all of us, not only physically from place-to-place, but also reinvigorate our connections to the land and our sense of place in Thunder Bay. Hi, I’m Dino Cicchitano, and I am proud to be running for City Councillor in Red River Ward.

I was born and raised in Nipigon by my parents, Sam and Mary Cicchitano. When I was 15, my family moved to Thunder Bay, and I have called Red River Ward home for most of my life. I attended Hammarskjold High School and earned a Bachelor of Business degree from Lakehead University.

My career has been built on business and entrepreneurship. I opened Thunder Bay’s United Colors of Benetton store and, with my father Sam, established Homelife Cicchitano Realty. I later opened three Great Canadian Bagel locations and spent more than 30 years in the real estate industry. I was Sales Manager with Sun Life and operated my own Co-operators Insurance and Financial Services franchise.

Community involvement has always been important to me. I created Bagel Day for the United Way, chaired Kinsmen Ladies Night Out, and organized the Queen of Hearts Golf Tournament for the hospital foundation. Recently I’ve supported the DEK Foundation, a cause that is especially meaningful to my family.

I believe my business experience, community involvement, and lifelong connection to Thunder Bay have prepared me to serve our community.

My name is Marco Cupelli, and I am proud to be running for City Councillor in McKellar Ward. The community where I grew up and watched it change. As an Italian-Canadian, I was raised to value hard work, responsibility, and contributing to the place I call home.

I spent eight years in Toronto, earning a Specialized Honours in Theatre from York University, working in theatre and film as a set designer. Set design taught me how changing a space can influence people and create new possibilities. In 2019, I brought that thinking home and founded Legacy Property & Rental Management.

I have improved housing, supported tenants and property owners, and worked with the City’s engineering, planning, permitting, zoning, water, roads, parks, and housing departments. I work in business development for my family’s companies and hold a BA in Economics from Lakehead University. Over the past several years, I have also closely followed City budgets, planning decisions and Council processes, including making deputations on issues I care about.

I am running because I believe Thunder Bay needs a municipal government refocused on its core responsibilities: maintaining the infrastructure we already own, governing the public spaces we are responsible for, and building the economic capacity to do both well.

Growth is essential to that.

Without sufficient growth, Council is increasingly forced to choose among four difficult options: higher taxes, reduced services, deferred maintenance, or further deterioration. More homes, businesses and industrial activity expand the economic activity and tax base supporting the infrastructure and services residents already rely on.

At the same time, growth cannot substitute for clear priorities. Municipal resources should be concentrated where the City has the clearest responsibility, while resisting unnecessary expansion of municipal scope and recognizing that residents cannot simply absorb every new cost.

That includes maintaining our roads and infrastructure and establishing clear, lawful rules that preserve shared access to parks, sidewalks and other public spaces.

I want to bring experience, economic discipline and a clear focus on municipal responsibilities to Council.

Hi, I’m Stephen Margarit and I would be honoured to be your next Westfort Councillor.

Westfort has been my home since I was eight. It is where I’ve grown up, went to school and where I have worked. It is a great neighbourhood but there are challenges we need to address.

I have public, private and charitable sector experience having worked as a Constituency Assistant for a local MPP, worked for the senior leadership team at Bombardier, coordinated the Bombardier Labour Action Centre, and I currently work for a local children’s charity. Born and raised in Westfort, John Beals has resided in south Neebing since 1972. An Architecture graduate from Ryerson Toronto, he served as the construction representative for Fairfield and Dubois Architects’ major projects at Lakehead University, including the Science Center, Agora, and Athletic Building. He later joined Lakehead Developers, managing design and construction for Northwood Park Plaza, County Fair Plaza, and Northwood Apartments.

Transitioning into business ownership, John founded the Roby’s Steak and Burger chain and managed five food concessions including at Mount Norway Ski Resort. In 1976, he purchased the Neebing Hotel, redeveloping it into the iconic Neebing Road House. He acquired Mount Norway in 1977, transforming it into Sundance Ski Resort until its provincial expropriation in 1983. In 1989, he acquired the Alpine Hotel, spending a year renovating it into the Best Western Nor’Wester Resort Hotel, and added the Thunder Bay Tournament Center in 1996.

John's community involvement includes leadership roles with the High Y, Kinsmen, Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Thunder Bay, Lake Superior Circle Tour, Thunder Bay Economic Development Corporation, and Fort William First Nation Economic Development Corporation. He also led the Coalition to Save the Nor'Wester Mountains from Wind Turbines.

My Key Priorities & Platform:
I am driven by a balanced, accountable, and responsive representation, and as such my platform focuses on long-term growth, accessible leadership, and enhanced quality of life. I hope to push for proactive, multi-year maintenance strategies for roads and drainage ditches to tackle the city's infrastructure deficit. I hope to expand active trail networks and build safer, accessible neighborhood spaces. I am also guaranteeing direct communication and open dialogue with all constituents.

Finally, I would like to build on past advocacy for major local projects, such as the Designated Truck Route and the Indoor Turf Facility, and expand my leadership role on City Council by actively pushing for stronger provincial and federal partnerships to ensure Thunder Bay's priorities are heard.

Education matters to every family and to the future of our community. As a parent of two teenagers who have grown up through Lakehead Public Schools, I know how important strong schools are to students, families and our community.
My career in Human Resources leadership has taught me to listen carefully, ask the right questions and work through issues with fairness, respect and good judgment. I understand the importance of clear policies, responsible decision-making, accountability and supportive workplaces. I would bring that practical, direct, people-focused experience to this role.
My approach is straightforward:
Supportive schools for students, staff and families. Students succeed where they feel safe and supported; teachers need the tools and respect to do their best work; and families need to be treated as meaningful partners in education.
Student-focused decision-making with simple, transparent communication. Good governance means asking thoughtful questions and ensuring decisions are connected to student achievement, well-being and responsible use of public resources which should be communicated in a clear and timely manner.
I want to help the Board focus on what matters most: student success, safe and welcoming schools, strong support for educators and staff, meaningful engagement with families, and decisions the public can understand and trust. A Trustee’s role is governance, and I am prepared to bring sound judgement and accountability to that responsibility.

The decisions made over the next four years will shape how students learn, how staff work, and how our community engages with public education. Since moving here in 2023 and working as a local journalist, I’ve listened to residents and followed issues affecting students and staff. Those experiences showed me how important it is for trustees to understand today’s realities and challenges.

At 26, I bring a younger perspective to the board. I grew up with smartphones, social media, and constant connectivity. I understand how digital distractions influence learning, how online culture affects behaviour, and how emerging technologies like artificial intelligence are changing assignments and assessment. Trustees must advocate through provincial channels so educators have the training and resources to navigate these shifts.

I hope to ensure students continue to have consistent instruction and classrooms supported by educational assistants, custodial staff, office administrators, and other workers who create safe, stable learning environments.

The board’s commitment to reconciliation must continue, guided by Lakehead Public Schools’ Indigenous Education Framework. This journey must be guided by relationality, relevancy, respect, and responsibility.

I aim to contribute a perspective that supports collaborative, informed decision‑making and reflects the needs of today’s learners and our community.

I am running to ensure LPSB is a safe, supportive learning environment that encourages students to achieve to the best of their abilities. I am committed to working collaboratively with stakeholders to bring sound judgement into decision-making that will lead to student success and well-being.

I will be an effective Trustee because:
- I want every child to succeed in a supportive, inclusive and safe environment.
- I will work collaboratively with other Trustees to make that happen.
- I have the experience as a parent, an educator, a manager and community leader.

Training as a teacher provided me with a solid foundation. I have taught in elementary school, at community college and in adult-education Language classes.

I was a parent member of a School Council, a mentor for a student-community project and a parent classroom and field-trips volunteer.

I have worked extensively in both municipal and provincial government holding local and regional management positions. I have extensive experience in youth and adult recreation, health planning and advocacy, collaborating with community associations, government agencies, municipalities, women’s organizations, Indigenous communities, regionally-based boards and committees.

My skill set includes experience in budgeting, strategic planning, government funding systems, economic development, governance, policy development and program evaluation.

Why am I running for a Trustee with Lakehead Public Schools? Because I want to help strengthen the education that has shaped my heart, my life and, my family.

I attended Pine Street, École Gron Morgan, and PACI, and my children currently attend high school within the same board. I care deeply about what happens in schools and want to help create positive change that supports students, families, staff, and our community.

Education has also been a lifelong part of my family. My mum taught with Lakehead Public Schools for over 25 years. I watched her work long hours, move schools, and experience multiple strikes, yet she continued to love being a teacher. I want to help ensure today’s teachers and school staff feel supported, valued, and proud to come to work, so they can inspire and support students.

Over the past eight years, I have gained valuable leadership and governance experience through executive roles with the Fort William BIA and Thunder Pride. These experiences have taught me the importance of collaboration, advocacy, accountability, and community engagement.

As a Trustee, I hope to bring that experience to Lakehead Public Schools, listen, and work collaboratively to make meaningful improvements. I am particularly interested in contributing to committees such as the Equity and Inclusive Education Advisory Committee and the Special Education Advisory Committee.

Lex MacArthur is a community volunteer, accountant and long-time youth sports coach/executive.

Lex has professional experience in two distinct careers. For over 15 years he provided support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, which provided direct experience with accessibility, inclusion and the importance of helping people succeed. More recently, Lex brings nearly 20 years of professional accounting experience, providing a foundation in fiscal management, accountability and responsible stewardship of public resources.

His commitment to community service spans over 30 years. He coached multiple sports and had executive experience with youth hockey organizations. He served four years as President of Westfort Hockey Association focusing budgeting, tournament organization and on recruiting future organization leaders. He was an integral member of the group that merged the minor hockey organizations improving governance and efficiency. He also served a term on the Community Living Thunder Bay Rights Committee and recently became a board member of the Children’s Aid Foundation.

I am asking for your support for the new term of office beginning in November, 2026 for Trustee once again.

Together, we have faced many challenges in education. To ensure our ongoing success in the changing world of education, I can assure you of my continued commitment, dedication and leadership as your Trustee representative.

My family and I have lived in Thunder Bay for over 40 years. I am a proud parent of two grown sons and two grandsons all of whom have attended Lakehead Public Schools.

Raised in Thunder Bay and educated in the Lakehead public school system, Dr. Ian Morgan is an educator, scientist, public servant, and lifelong learner. He previously served as Professor and Department Head of Science at Yellowhead Tribal College, teaches as a sessional lecturer at Lakehead University, and serves in management within the Environment Division for the City of Thunder Bay.

Ian graduated from Lakehead University in 2007 before earning his Doctorate at the University of Guelph, where he received the Dean's Scholarship. He then spent three years in Finland completing a Postdoctoral Fellowship before returning to Western Canada to teach and lead in post-secondary education.

After twelve years away, Ian returned to Thunder Bay, where he has built his career in public service and put down roots. As the father of a son attending public school, his commitment to education is both professional and personal.

Ian believes public education requires responsible stewardship and a clear focus on student needs, including sustainable funding, manageable class sizes, access to specialists and student supports, and educational opportunities.

He also serves as President of the Association of the Chemical Professionals of Ontario, bringing governance and leadership experience. As Trustee, Ian would bring an educator's perspective, a parent's investment, and a public servant's commitment to serving students, supporting families, and strengthening public education in Thunder Bay.

I am currently a trustee with the Lakehead public school board (LPS). During my 24 years with the school board, I have held various positions, notably the vice-chair of the LPS. Currently, I am a member of the special education advisory committee, audit and finance committees, international students committee, and the board development committee. I take pride in our students' education and I find joy in helping them succeed with the programs put in place.

We are fortunate to have a diverse cultural community in Thunder Bay with students from many countries and differing educational backgrounds. That being said, it is crucial that we can individually support them based on their educational needs and requirements. Only then, can we focus on student achievement and well being so that they can reach their full potential.

Trustees have a responsibility to the students, their parents and the community. It is important for trustees to lobby the government to continue to make them aware of the diverse needs of students in northern Ontario. For instance, special education programs and bus transportation is still greatly underfunded by the government. It is our duty to call attention to these issues that students face since they cause greater barriers in education. I promise to continue bringing forth issues and challenge the government to invoke change within LPS.

Associating with the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, has been a priority with my professional and personal involvement for many decades. As a former student, teacher, principal, administrator, parent of five, grandparent of ten and great-grandparent of seven children, being with, for and in this system remains a valuable asset in my present capacity. As a trustee for the past 19 years, interest and commitment to Catholic education remains a foremost life goal.

As a member of five liturgical and pastoral ministries with St. Agnes Parish, ties with the triad of church, home and school are clearly defined. Volunteer service with the above, in addition to community and municipal agencies, have helped to focus and assist others as required.

My tenure as a trustee creates a positive balance in my life-learning goals. The privilege of being a member on the Board committees, has helped to develop a positive partnership between our Board and stakeholders. The Multi-Year Strategic Plan 2026-2030 strives to promote our priorities of safe, inclusive and engaged learning environments, student achievement, operational excellence, connecting community and workforce excellence.

I am a husband, a father, an alumnus of our schools, and a proud member of this community. For the past 8 years, I have had the privilege of serving as a Trustee with the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board. I am seeking re-election because I care deeply about our schools and want to continue the important work we have begun.

Being a Trustee means listening to students, families, educators, and community members. It means asking hard questions, making difficult decisions, and never losing sight of who those decisions are meant to serve.

During my time on the Board, I have worked to keep student achievement, well-being, and equity at the centre of every conversation. I have supported stronger family communication, contributed to the Board's strategic plan, served on committees including Audit, Special Education Advisory, Student Transportation, and Communications and Public Relations, and served as Vice-Chair. My commitment to education is grounded in firsthand experience and years of advocacy. I understand who is most affected by decisions made at the board table. I have sat in those classrooms for the past 14 years. I have seen the need for stronger academic, wellness, technology, and special education support, and I know how easily students can fall through the gaps. I have also seen and experienced the significant positive impact that is possible when the right people are at the table.

I bring experience as a Student Senator, Municipal Student Councilor, and provincial advocacy experience as a Student Trustee. As a parent of a child in the Thunder Bay Catholic school system, I have been impressed by the dedication of our educators and administration, the quality of our schools, and their commitment to Catholic faith and values. I also recognize the important work of current and previous Boards of Trustees in building a strong foundation.

This election comes at an important time for school boards across Ontario. Provincial intervention in several boards has reinforced expectations for strong governance, financial accountability, transparency, and a clear focus on student achievement.
Thunder Bay Catholic has not faced these interventions, and we should work to ensure it remains that way. Protecting and strengthening Catholic education requires Trustees who can provide effective oversight, ask difficult questions when necessary, and support Administration in delivering excellent education while responsibly managing public resources.
As a senior leader in a large public-sector organization, I bring significant experience in governance, strategic planning, financial oversight, accountability, and working within complex government systems.
