May 27, 2015 - The in-progress Boulevard Lake Area Improvement Plan has moved on to its next phase after a consultation period, stakeholder meetings and a final Open House held May 26.

The plan, currently in development by consulting firm Environmental Design Solutions (EDS) Group Inc., has been shaped by feedback gathered via two stakeholder sessions, two public consultations, and meetings with City departments.

"We've been impressed by the turnout at our Open Houses," said Werner Schwar, Coordinator - Park Planning. "There is a great deal of interest in the future of the Boulevard Lake area, and we wish to thank everyone who participated for their ideas and feedback."

The final plan is scheduled to be completed by early July, and is expected to include more than two dozen action items.

"This Plan explores more sustainable ways of using the Park and how it can be better maintained to best balance environmental protection with recreational activities at Boulevard Lake," said John Buchko, Principal Environmental Planner, EDS Group Inc. "The plan will incorporate the feedback we've received and will make recommendations for the entire Boulevard Lake area that, if implemented, will enhance its recreational potential for residents and visitors, while improving habitat for aquatic and terrestrial wildlife."
