Free compost available to City residents beginning Friday

Free compost will be available at the Solid Waste and Recycling Facility starting Friday, May 15, for all City residents - while quantities last, weather permitting.
Access to the compost pick-up area is located east of the old landfill entrance on John Street Rd. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 6 pm, and Saturdays from 8:30 am to 4 pm.

This spring there will be two Leaf & Yard Waste curbside collections. The first will take place between May 12 and 22, and the second four weeks later between June 9 and 19 - on residents’ regular recycling days.

Automated garbage cart delivery to begin for remaining city households

Beginning May 4, delivery of pre-assembled 240-litre wheeled garbage carts will begin for remaining Thunder Bay residential households that did not receive a garbage cart in 2025’s soft launch. Delivery of carts will continue over several weeks.
Residents are asked to store their garbage cart beside or behind their house or in their garage.
