“Thunder Bay’s Waterfront Trail is a key public asset that, while partially built, still requires work to be fully connected across the city,” said Guy Walter, Supervisor – Landscape Architecture & Horticulture. “The City and its partners are committed to improving public access and safety, restoring natural shoreline areas, connecting missing trail segments, and involving the community in trail planning and stewardship.”
The City is pleased to welcome Stacey Dakin, Chief Program Officer at Trans Canada Trail, who will attend the event to recognize Thunder Bay’s trail development efforts as part of a national celebration of connection, community, and nature.
In advance of the event, the City has launched a dedicated Get Involved Thunder Bay page to collect public feedback. Residents are invited to visit: www.getinvolvedthunderbay.ca/waterfront-trail to learn more about the trail initiative and complete a short community survey. As an added incentive, survey participants will be entered into a draw to win 2 tickets to the 2025 Wake the Giant Music Festival.
The Celebrate International Trails Day: Build the Waterfront Trail event is a collaboration between the City of Thunder Bay, Lakehead Region Conservation Authority, North Shore of Lake Superior Remedial Action Plans, Trans Canada Trail, and the Waterfront Trail Rotary Community Action Team.
