With a winter storm warning in effect, the City of Thunder Bay is urging motorists to use extra caution as road crews work to keep local streets clear.

 To help ensure everyone’s safety, the City encourages drivers to follow safe winter driving tips:

• Reduce your speed and drive with care
• Increase your following distance to allow more time to stop
• Stay patient and avoid sudden maneuvers
• Remain alert for pedestrians and cyclists who may be harder to see in poor weather

 Drivers are reminded to observe calendar parking restrictions to support snow-clearing operations and safe traffic flow in residential areas. More information is available at thunderbay.ca/parking

 Residents are also asked to give snowplows and salting trucks plenty of space so crews can operate safely and keep roads clear. Passing too closely or driving aggressively around equipment puts both drivers and operators at risk.
