The City of Thunder Bay is proud to celebrate a century of golf, community, and local heritage at Strathcona Golf Course, marking its 100th anniversary on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the course’s grounds, located at 500 Hodder Avenue.
The celebration will take place from 11 am – 12 pm, at the putting green and will feature remarks from local dignitaries, community representatives, and members of the golf community. The event will also feature a special ceremonial putt using a 100-year-old putter and golf ball once played by 1930s Strathcona Invitational Champion, Johnny Henry.
A historical exhibit will also be unveiled, commemorating the course’s rich legacy in Thunder Bay’s recreation and sports history. Guests can enjoy refreshments, appetizers, and a commemorative anniversary cake while exploring the exhibit and connecting with fellow golf enthusiasts.
“Marking 100 years at Strathcona Golf Course is a significant milestone not just for the City, but for the many individuals and families who have built memories here,” said Pat Berezowski, Supervisor of Golf Services. “We look forward to celebrating this important facility with the community and reflecting on its legacy as a treasured part of Thunder Bay’s recreational history.”
This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend and help celebrate a century of excellence at one of the city’s most cherished public golf courses.
