February 16, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay's Parks & Open Spaces Section, in collaboration with FOTENN Planning + Design, hosted an information booth yesterday to kick off a series of community consultations that will support the development of a renewed vision for Chippewa Park.
The booth was displayed at Prince Arthur's Landing as part of the Snow Day activities, and was a component of the Chippewa Park Visioning Project, which will explore opportunities to improve the park's recreational and cultural resources.
"Chippewa Park is a cultural and historical landmark in the City of Thunder Bay," said Werner Schwar, Supervisor - Parks & Open Space Planning. "The City recognizes the importance of enhancing its existing amenities, and acknowledges the potential to introduce new features. This is why we are turning to residents to help shape the vision of Chippewa's future use and design."
Representatives from FOTENN were on hand to exchange ideas with members of the community.
"We were delighted to have so many people contribute recommendations at our first public event," said Sarah Millar, FOTENN's Manager of Planning & Development. "There will be more opportunities for residents to get involved, and we look forward to working in partnership to develop a vision for Chippewa Park that reflects their collective insights."
