The City is delivering on a major commitment to support growth and investment in Thunder Bay, by simplifying and improving the development process with the launch of the Build Thunder Bay “One Stop Development Shop”.
The concept of the One Stop Development Shop is to make the development process simpler and easier, by bringing development-related services that were previously spread across several divisions together.
“This is impactful, behind-the-scenes work that’s now front and centre for anyone trying to build or invest in our city,” says John Collin, City Manager. “We committed to improving service delivery and the One Stop Development Shop is a clear example of how we’re doing it.”
Members of the public and development community can now more easily access a wide range of services in a central location, at the Build Thunder Bay customer service counter in the Victoriaville Civic Centre, or on a new, user-friendly website.
Services now available through Build Thunder Bay include:
- Driveway Permits
- Lot Grading and Drainage
- Sewer and Water Connections/Disconnections
- Street and Sidewalk Closures for Construction
- Parking Closures and Meter Base Requests
- Solid Waste and Recycling Services for Development
- Heritage Advisory Committee Approvals
- Performance Guarantees
“This is a big step forward in how we serve homeowners, developers, and businesses,” says Joel DePeuter, Director of Development Services. “Whether you're applying for a permit or planning a major development, we’re making it easier to access and navigate services, both online and in person.”
