The City of Thunder Bay invites residents of all ages to come together and celebrate Neighbour Day with a variety of free and affordable, family-friendly activities happening throughout the community on Saturday, September 19.

 Neighbour Day is an opportunity to strengthen community connections, meet new people, and celebrate the neighbourhoods that make Thunder Bay a vibrant and welcoming place to live. Residents are encouraged to participate in activities throughout the city, including the Indoor Yard Sale at North McIntyre Rec Centre, the 55 Plus Centre Open House Extravaganza, Self-Guided EcoSuperior activities, Toonie Public Swims at Volunteer and Churchill Pools, and pay-what-you-may admission and free activities at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery, as well as local gatherings organized by residents and community groups.

 The celebration will culminate with Neighbour Night at Northwood Playfields, 609 James St. N., on Saturday, September 19, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm., offering an evening of entertainment and activities for the whole family. 

Hosted by the City of Thunder Bay, Neighbour Night will feature a free community BBQ, the Pedal Forward "fix-a-bike" program, arts and crafts, a Shrek the Musical Sing-Along presented by All the Daze Productions, and a free outdoor screening of Shrek (2001). 

"Neighbour Day is about creating opportunities for residents to connect, build relationships, and celebrate the strength of our communities," said Brayden Cassidy. "Whether you attend a community event, participate in a neighbourhood activity, or join us for Neighbour Night, there are plenty of ways for people to come together and enjoy this citywide celebration."

Activities at Northwood Playfields begin at 5pm, with the Shrek the Musical Sing-Along beginning at 6pm and the outdoor movie screening starting at 7pm. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and their favourite movie snacks for a fun evening under the stars.

Neighbour Day supports the City's ongoing efforts to establish connected, healthy, and engaged neighbourhoods by encouraging residents to get to know one another, share experiences, and participate in an enriching community life. Aligned with the Attraction Pillar of the Smart Growth Action Plan, Neighbour Day further supports making Thunder Bay an inviting place to live through investments in welcoming public spaces and fostering a strong community identity that inspires pride and connection, while also ensuring events and recreation opportunities are accessible to all.

Admission to all Neighbour Night activities is free, and everyone is welcome.
