City of Thunder Bay Launches Snowplow Status Map

February 10, 2026 - The City of Thunder Bay is improving how residents access winter road information with the launch of its new Snowplow Status Map - a near real-time, interactive tool designed to help the community stay informed and travel safely throughout the winter season.

“The Snowplow Status Map gives residents a clearer picture of what’s happening on our roads during the winter months,” said Ian Spoljarich, Manager of Roads Division. “By showing where our plows are working and when streets were last serviced, we’re helping people plan their travel more safely while also increasing transparency around our winter maintenance operations.”

The new map provides up-to-date insight into winter road maintenance activities across the city. During and after snow events, residents can track nearly 40 snowplows as they move throughout the city. The map also shows when specific roads were last serviced, offering valuable, easy-to-access information to help residents plan their travel and stay safe.

By delivering real-time data and increased transparency into snow clearing efforts, the Snowplow Status Map supports safer winter navigation and strengthens public understanding of the City’s road maintenance operations.

The Snowplow Status Map goes live on February 10, 2026, and will be available throughout the winter season.
