Summer in Thunder Bay has officially kicked off with the opening of City campgrounds and amusement rides.

Tent sites, RV sites and cabins are now available to rent as the campgrounds at Trowbridge Falls and Chippewa Park open for the camping season today.

The amusement rides at Chippewa Park will open on Saturday, June 3. Throughout the month of June, rides will be open from 1 pm - 8 pm on Saturdays and Sundays only. Beginning in July, rides will operate Wednesday – Sunday from 1 pm - 8 pm until Labour Day.

The Muskeg Express train ride at Centennial Park will begin its summer season on Saturday, June 10. Operating on weekends only from 11 am – 4 pm for the month of June, the train will be running Wednesday – Sunday from 11 am – 4 pm beginning in July.
