November 17, 2025 – The City of Thunder Bay is inviting community members to attend an upcoming Neighbourhood Drop-In Session to learn more about the Temporary Shelter Village project. This informal event is designed to give the public clear, accessible information about the project and a chance to speak directly with City staff and partners shaping its development.
The session takes place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm at the Canada Games Complex and will feature visual displays and handouts that explain key components of the project.
“Thunder Bay residents have important questions about the Temporary Shelter Village and how it will impact both future residents and the surrounding neighbourhood,” said Rilee Willianen, Supervisor - Encampment Response. “This session creates space for open conversation, transparency, and collaboration as we work toward a safer community for everyone.”
Drop-in attendees will be able to move through the space at their own pace and connect one-on-one with City staff and partners. There will be no formal presentations, ensuring a comfortable environment for asking questions, offering feedback, and accessing information.
The event is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to sharing timely updates and building strong relationships with residents as the project advances. Staff will also be gathering interest from individuals who may wish to join the Neighbourhood Liaison Committee, which will support communication and collaboration once the Village is operational.
