The City of Thunder Bay is entering the next major phase of the Reimagine Victoriaville project, with the demolition of Victoriaville Centre scheduled to begin Monday, August 11, 2025. Crews will be working extended hours from 7 am to 7 pm, in accordance with City noise by-laws.
The Victoriaville Centre officially closed to the public on July 18, 2025. Temporary maps showing alternate routes to nearby businesses are posted at all entrances and key locations around Victoriaville to help guide visitors.
Currently, all access points to the mall are closed, except for the parkade skywalk, which remains open for accessible access to the Civic Centre.
Demolition over the coming weeks will include:
-
Removal of the roof (superstructure)
-
Second-floor mezzanine demolition
-
Skywalk removal
-
Mall floor (slab) removal
The public is reminded to follow all signage and avoid fenced or restricted areas for safety.
All businesses remain open during construction. St. Joseph’s Care Group can also be accessed at the McKellar Mall entrance, adjacent to Centennial Square. Tammy’s Alterations has relocated to South McKellar Mall.
To access City services at the Civic Centre, residents should use the south McKellar Street entrance, located next to Centennial Square. For accessible entry, please use the ramp in the skywalk on the second floor of the parkade.
The Temporary Business Access Map is located on the project website. Alternative access points will remain in place until October 31, 2026.
